Perth’s Miami Apartments, situated on the hilltop corner of picturesque Kings Park, with panoramic views of the Perth CBD and the Swan River, is a luxurious, five-apartment complex of exceptional quality.
With the complex completely pre-sold, the developers specified the home-automation system should be beyond state-of-the-art, combining in-built flexibility and superior functionality for apartment owners and simpler to operate than a TV remote.
Perth’s Light Application was chosen to help design and supply the overall home-automation system. The system needed to provide seamless integration between all services in each apartment, including complete lighting control, security and lift-access control, home-theatre control, airconditioning, motorised blinds, 12 stereo zone background audio, telephone and Internet access.
Individual apartment control was also required for the extensive common area facilities, such as the spa, sauna, gymnasium, undercover car park, pool deck, individual wine cellars, unique and luxurious party roof deck with its own home theatre, bar, and massive outdoor function area.
Light Application chose the Genisys Automation system as the interface between the overall building-wide Dynalite lighting control, individual AMX home theatre control systems and the plethora of other systems. It was chosen for its exceptional feature set, speed and flexibility of commissioning, as well as its ease of use for the client.
Standard wireless web-tablets were utilised as the primary touchscreen interfaces in each apartment, enabling the owners to control items such as lighting, curtains, home theatre functions and background music as well as warm the sauna, call the lift, browse the Internet, send and read emails, even pop up the weather and local TV guide at the touch of a button.
Dynalite wall panels and AMX DMS keypads throughout provide all of the required individual room controls (lighting, curtains, multi-room audio etc) with simple one-touch modes such as “friends”, “party” and “late night” along with the usual “welcome”, “goodbye” and “goodnight”.
The Genisys Automation system provides the simple yet extensive “end user” interface and has been praised by all of the apartment owners for being easy to use and non-technical, with one-touch functionality and scheduling of timed events, creation of multi-step macros and level setting of all lighting presets. The system also provides complete Internet status and control over the required services.
Commissioning and customising time was slashed to a fraction of what is normally required, as the Genisys software provides incredibly simple “drag and drop” tools which took care of all the customised programming in the background and automatically downloaded the required Dynalite equipment.
Light Application naturally included visits with each client in the overall project in order to best refine the system to suit individual needs and ensure the clients had the best value for money.
The system is completely software upgradeable, so as new Genisys/Dynalite/AMX features appear over the years, the overall system can be upgraded. Additionally, Genisys enables Light Application to provide clients with programming alterations or upgrades over the Internet without having to visit the property. |
