The Knox One showroom has been designed as a complete interior environment where materials, systems and detailing can be experienced together in fully realised spaces. Rather than displaying products separately, the showroom presents decorative surfaces, storage systems, hardware and lighting as integrated elements within contemporary kitchens, wardrobes and living spaces.

Brands including Verdecor, Basistem, Aeroframe, Voxaura and Hessen are showcased through carefully resolved applications. Each contributes to a layered design language, from refined surface finishes and precision hardware to engineered storage and architectural lighting, demonstrating how individual components come together to create cohesive interiors.

SHOWROOM BY KNOX ONE

Particular attention is given to craftsmanship and material quality. Visitors are invited to engage directly with the products. They can see the depth of finishes, feel the accuracy of joinery and experience the smooth operation of functional systems. Many of the materials and solutions on display are rarely seen within the local market, offering new combinations and fresh perspectives on contemporary design.

Distinctive functional features and bespoke detailing throughout the showroom provide valuable reference points for both designers and homeowners. These real-world applications illustrate how innovative materials and systems can be applied with clarity, restraint and confidence.

A monochromatic palette has always been a classic. For this project, the sophisticated pairing of materials, combined with warm grey tones and texture, brings a sense of warmth to the predominantly black and white foundation.

We love the pops of sandstone, golden timber and muted tan leather furniture with its soft blush hue, balanced with perfectly placed greenery. This is a space designed to feel both homely and refined, capturing the atmosphere of a glamorous boutique hotel while still maintaining the comfort of everyday living.

With careful attention to detail throughout the finishes, a striking white staircase greets you as you enter. The design called for a crisp white statement piece that balanced durability with visual appeal. Staron® Solid Surfaces in Bright White was selected for its ability to be seamlessly clad around the substructure of the stair treads, enhancing the floating appearance of the staircase. Where additional structural elements intersected with the staircase the risers were clad in Staron Piano Black, creating a striking contrast that paired effortlessly with the exposed fixing details.

Austaron Surfaces

Combined with strategic lighting and a bleacher style adaptation for displaying greenery, the staircase becomes a standout architectural feature, creating a strong visual connection between all levels of the home.

As you move from the staircase toward the kitchen, the pathway leads past an attractive wall feature created using Mario Romano Walls®. The three dimensional, non-repeating pattern is easily tailored to suit the required wall dimensions, with the pattern thoughtfully fading and adapting around power points and lighting elements to maintain a seamless visual flow.

Austaron Surfaces

The Orbit design creates a striking mural effect across the wall, enhancing the layering and interaction of materials throughout the interior. As the pattern is carved directly into Staron® Solid Surfaces, the white feature wall becomes more than just a visual statement, it is also a durable and functional piece of artwork designed for everyday living.

Often considered a benchtop material, the staircase and textured wall installation showcase the versatility of Staron® Solid Surfaces within the home. Both elements integrate effortlessly with the project’s material palette and architectural features, helping to create a cohesive connection throughout the interior.

The SpectraFlora Pendula 8 TL brings high-end speaker engineering to a category that has long settled for less.

There is a moment in nearly every premium residential project where two priorities collide. The client has agreed to invest in considered architecture: cohesive material palettes, recessed lighting, clean ceiling planes, joinery that conceals what doesn’t need to be seen. Then the audio-visual scope arrives, and the only in-wall speakers on offer are large, cheap-looking, slightly off-white grilles that interrupt every wall they touch — and, more often than not, sound like exactly what they are: a driver in a cavity.

This is a problem worth solving. Sound is the one element of a home that occupies it completely. Light defines a room; sound inhabits it. And while architects have long had the freedom to choose lighting that complements the design, in-wall speakers have remained a compromise — a category where appearance has been treated as the only design variable, and acoustic performance has been treated as someone else’s concern.

The SpectraFlora Pendula 8 TL is built on the premise that this compromise is unnecessary.

A boutique approach, behind the wall

SpectraFlora is an Australian loudspeaker manufacturer based in Victoria. Its first product, the Celata 88 freestanding loudspeaker, has been named Product of the Year by both SoundStage! Australia (2025) and Sound+Image (2026) — the kind of back-to-back recognition normally reserved for large global brands. The Pendula 8 TL is the company’s first architectural product, and it carries the same design discipline into a category that has historically been treated as an afterthought. It is designed first and foremost for in-wall installation; a freestanding variant is offered for projects where in-wall integration isn’t practical.

SpectraFlora loudspeakers

The “TL” in the name refers to transmission line loading — a cabinet design principle far more often associated with premium freestanding speakers than in-wall installations. In a transmission line, the rear output of the driver is routed through a long, tapered, internally damped acoustic path before exiting the enclosure. Done properly, this approach produces bass that is deeper, tighter, and more detailed than what a small sealed or ported in-wall enclosure can manage. Done poorly, it doesn’t work at all. It is not a design choice taken lightly, and rarely attempted in a product that has to fit within a wall cavity.

That constraint is the engineering story. Most in-wall speakers don’t have a proper enclosure at all — the wall cavity behind them is treated as a free, uncontrolled resonant box. The result is the sound most people associate with in-wall installations: thin, congested, vague. The Pendula 8 TL is, by contrast, a complete, self-contained acoustic system. The wall around it is asked to do only what a wall is supposed to do.

What this means for the project

For architects and designers specifying the Pendula 8 TL, a few practical things change:

  • The speaker is engineered as a self-contained acoustic system, so its performance does not depend on the construction of the wall around it. Behaviour is consistent between a brick-veneer wall and a lightweight partition.
  • The grille is a custom fabric panel rather than a paint-it-and-hope-for-the-best plastic frame. The fabric is specified per project, which means the speaker face can be matched to upholstery, drawn from the same palette as a wallcovering, or set deliberately in contrast. The speaker becomes a textile element of the room rather than an apologetic interruption to it.
  • Low-frequency performance is taken seriously rather than written off as a limitation of the form factor — that is the entire reason for the transmission line approach.
  • Because each unit is its own enclosure, room-to-room sound isolation is improved. Adjacent rooms do not share an acoustic cavity through the speaker.

These are not subtle differences when the installation is for a primary living area, a media room, or any space where the client will actually listen.

An Australian product, designed for Australian builds

The Pendula 8 TL is designed in Australia and manufactured to SpectraFlora’s specification, with the same attention to driver selection, crossover design and enclosure engineering that defines the company’s freestanding range. It is not a generic offshore in-wall rebadged for the local market. It is a considered architectural product from a manufacturer whose freestanding speakers have already been recognised at the highest level of the Australian HiFi press.

SpectraFlora loudspeakers

For practices working on premium residential or boutique hospitality projects, this matters in two ways. First, the speaker can be specified with confidence — the engineering pedigree is verifiable, not asserted. Second, the supply relationship is direct, local, and responsive. Specification queries, sample organisation and project-level support come from the designer himself, not a distribution layer.

The brief, simplified

When the goal is a home that looks resolved and sounds alive, the path is straightforward:

  • Specify the Pendula 8 TL where music or film actually matters — primary living areas, dedicated listening rooms, media rooms, primary bedrooms.
  • Specify the grille fabric to suit the room — matched to the textile palette, drawn from the wallcovering, or chosen as a deliberate accent.
  • Brief the AV contractor that the Pendula 8 TL is a sealed transmission line system; no additional back-box construction is required.

The result is that rare thing in residential audio: a speaker the architect doesn’t have to apologise for, and that the client hears properly — perhaps for the first time.

The SpectraFlora Pendula 8 TL is available direct from www.spectraflora.com. For technical documentation, dealer enquiries and project consultation, contact listen@spectraflora.com.

At KingsBottle, we recognise that well-resolved spaces are built on clarity—of vision, proportion, and detail. With that in mind, we’ve introduced KB Designer, a new digital tool that simplifies the way wine displays are designed and specified within residential and hospitality projects.

KB Designer allows you to configure custom wine display layouts based on your project dimensions, using a curated system of modular components. By adjusting height and width, and selecting from a range of shelving options—including options like steel standing, display, wooden, and stemware shelving—you can assemble a design that responds to both spatial constraints and the broader architectural language of the project.

Whether integrated into bespoke joinery, positioned as a feature within open-plan living areas, or incorporated into dedicated wine rooms, the system is designed to sit comfortably within a range of material palettes and interior styles.

The process is deliberately streamlined. Within minutes, you can move from concept to a resolved layout.

More importantly, the tool enhances how designs are communicated.

With integrated augmented reality (AR), your wine display can be visualised in situ, at true scale—offering a clear understanding of proportion, alignment, and presence within the space. This allows you to assess how the design interacts with surrounding elements such as cabinetry, lighting, and circulation zones—supporting more confident design decisions and clearer client presentations.

An instant quote is also generated, enabling a smoother transition from design development to specification.

How It Works

1. Design

Input your dimensions and configure your layout using modular shelving elements

2. Visualise

Experience your design in real scale using augmented reality (AR)

3. Make It Real

Generate an instant quote and move seamlessly into specification.

Modern furniture plays a pivotal role in shaping the aesthetics and functionality of a space. Picking the right piece also allows your personality to shine.

Words Carrol Baker

Well-designed, innovative furniture enhances your home. It works hard to deliver, with key attributes such as space-saving features or dual functionality that offers design flexibility. It’s also beautiful and unique.

Modern furniture is all about quality, sustainable materials and pieces built to last. It embraces certain nuances and offers the ultimate in design innovation.

Spaces that dazzle

We’ve all seen interior spaces that seem to look stunning effortlessly. It could be a living room that makes you want to kick off your shoes and curl up on the couch, or a beautiful bedroom that has a soothing, calming vibe.

So what is that special something that sets a beautiful space apart? Chris Cooke, design mentor at King Living, says beautiful living spaces hold a perfect harmony of contrasts between materials, colours and textures. “Think a luxurious bouclé sofa with a smooth leather lounge chair, or a sleek metal coffee table with a soft wool rug,” explains Chris. “It’s also about scale; the right proportions between furniture pieces create a sense of ease.”

When sourcing furniture, look for key qualities that are fundamental to furniture built to endure. Chris says outstanding build quality is non-negotiable, and modularity is also key. “A sofa you rearrange into new configurations or customise with removable covers offers flexibility as your life changes,” he explains. “Always look for timeless designs that remain visually relevant as trends shift, such as our Jasper Sofa, a best seller 20 years on.”

Innovative pieces

With the right dining table, you can elevate your dining experience. Think warm natural timbers, glass, and marble-look laminates. For small spaces, a round table works well and it encourages conversation. If you like the idea of a large rectangular or square table and you’re short on space, look for one with a bench seat that tucks underneath, or one you can extend when required.

Look for dining chairs crafted from quality materials, boasting stylish design and comfort. The right bar stool can be the finishing touch to a stylish kitchen; don’t spend money on the kitchen of your dreams and shortchange yourself with a budget bar stool that won’t last. Choose a colour and material in your kitchen and let that guide you in your choice of bar stool texture and tone. Above all, choose something supremely comfortable. Kitchen island bar stools get a lot of use.

The consol table with its refined design and slimline profile is an enduring furniture piece, a place to drop keys into a stunning decor bowl on arrival home. A console with single or double drawer offers space to store items you need at a glance as you’re racing out the door. Opt for luxurious timber, glass, metal or stone and refined detailing.

Once you’ve sourced your furniture, add accents or decor pieces. Think a bespoke sculpture, a stylish side table or stool, a portable light, or accent piece that you love.

To add the finishing touches, Chris says a well-chosen rug should be at the top of your list. “It can define a zone and enhance the tone of the space,” he explains. “A rug with a unique texture or bold design can provide contrast against softer, neutral furniture, adding warmth and visual interest.”

Furniture innovation

There are plenty of new innovations in quality furniture that are gaining traction, and for good reason.

We are loving a touch of luxe in materials that also get the green tick of approval for being ecofriendly. Coco Republic’s head of interior design, Anna Di Napoli, says there is certainly a strong shift towards sustainable yet luxurious materials — “Certified FSC timbers, recycled metals, eco-leathers, and natural renewable textiles that don’t compromise on feel or finish,” says Anna. “Consumers are increasingly design-aware and eco-aware and looking for pieces that deliver both sophistication and environmental responsibility that reinforce a modern luxury space.”

A plush curved lounge

Some clever furniture also takes it one step further, with innovative technology. Anna says it’s being seamlessly integrated into high-end furniture without compromising on style. “Think wireless charging built into side tables, motion-sensor LED lighting in cabinetry, or powered recliners with hidden USB-C ports and silent motors,” she says.

Built to last

The notion of buying into trends in furniture is something that should be treated with caution. Rather, opt for quality pieces that reflect you and your lifestyle and which you’ll love decades from now. We all know quality furniture is indeed an investment, and Chris says the aesthetic you choose is part of what determines long-term value. But he’s quick to assert there are smart

ways to blend trends with sustainability. “You could choose a timeless sofa design with removable covers in a trending colour and replace the covers with a fresh look in the future,” he says. “Updating cushions and throws helps you stay on trend without the need to replace investment pieces.”

Anna adds that timeless design and quality pieces are linked. “True quality transcends trends,” notes Anna, “sophisticated and classic pieces that will elevate a space now and well into the future.”

Smart furniture is durable; it’s built to last. There are some key characteristics inherent in quality furniture. Anna says quality furniture is not just about how it looks, it’s about how it’s made, how it performs and how it endures. “It’s the quiet confidence of a piece that’s been designed and built to last, enhancing not just a home, but a lifestyle,” she explains.

No matter the furniture type, there are some characteristics that quality furniture shares. Anna says superior craftsmanship is one. “Craftsmanship is at the heart of every piece. This means attention to detail in construction, flawless joinery, and refined finishes,” she notes.

Quality also begins with premium materials. “Select materials that are not only beautiful, but enduring, because luxury should last,” says Anna. Finally, it’s important to source comfort without compromise. “Luxury is lived in, so furniture must not only look exceptional, but feel indulgent,” she says. “The form and function should be perfectly aligned.”

Let’s talk multifunctional

Slide-away sofa beds and murphy beds offer design flexibility in a space. You can pull the bed down or out when you have guests, so your office/study becomes a guest room.

Nesting or stackable furniture such as small stools or coffee tables that tuck away when not in use are not only a fabulous space saver, they help a space feel less cluttered and more streamlined. Some ottomans have hidden compartments. Not only are they great to put your feet up on, they also serve as storage spaces and extra seating for guests.

Storage shelves offer the ultimate in design flexibility and multifunctional furniture. A shelving unit with flexible shelf heights can go wherever extra storage is needed.

Petite pieces that shine

Perhaps you are downsizing, or you’ve just bought your first apartment and are getting ready to fill it with fabulous furniture. Before you pour that glass of sparkling wine and
go furniture shopping, it’s important to do your research.

The Seb extendable dining table

Hilary Sharp from Box Clever Interiors says the right furniture can create flow and a feeling of space. On the flipside, choosing chunky furniture can make your spaces feel cramped. In the bedroom, Hilary recommends platform beds or beds on legs. “You can see more of the floor which gives the illusion that the room is slightly bigger,” she says. “If you desperately need more storage, choose a bed with drawers.”

Where you can, invest in custom joinery in your wardrobe. “Most apartments have sliding robes, so put your money into fitting out the robe with storage spaces,” suggests Hilary.

When adding a bedside table, opt for a slimmer profile. “A single-drawer bedside table, or a round side table softens the space,” she notes.

Awkward small corners or spaces in your small home or apartment are an opportunity to create a custom space. Hilary suggests a reading nook with a feature chair, and a stool as a side table. “Introduce biophilic design with a plant on the table to soften the space,” she says.

Angular rooms can also be an issue when space is at a premium. Try thinking outside the box. “Instead of a sofa in a room with awkward angles, we added three rounded comfortable chairs and ottomans,” she says. “When not in use, the ottomans could be tucked under a round coffee table.”

The iconic influencer, Bec Judd, has teamed up with Big Ass Fans to share Bec’s ‘Fan Favourites’ when it comes to enhancing the features of your home with timeless style and design.

Want a home that feels polished, put-together, and never goes out of style? It’s all about making smart, stylish choices from the start. Here’s Bec’s no-fuss guide to choosing timeless pieces that look gorge today — and still will years down the track.

1. Invest in Quality and Versatility

Let’s be honest — fast furniture just doesn’t cut it. When you’re building the bones of your space, opt for pieces that are both high-quality and versatile. A well-made fan, a solid dining table, or a beautiful armchair isn’t just functional — it’s foundational. Choose items that can evolve with your style over the years, rather than chase trends you’ll tire of in a few months.

2. Choose Classic Lines Over Gimmicky Shapes

Avoid overly stylised pieces with dramatic angles or “statement” shapes that will date quickly. Think clean, classic silhouettes. A simple rectangular dining table or a gently curved sofa will always feel fresh. Steer clear of anything too architectural when it comes to big-ticket furniture — timeless means elegant, not experimental.

Big Ass Fans

3. Go Neutral with Larger Furniture

Neutrals are your best friend when it comes to bigger pieces. Creams, beiges, greys and earthy tones make a perfect base that you can build on over time. These shades work across all styles — coastal, contemporary, even glam — and won’t compete with the changing seasons or trends. Think of it as your blank canvas, ready to be layered with bolder accents when the mood strikes.

4. Embrace Natural Features

Nature never goes out of style. Timber flooring, stone benchtops, linen curtains — these materials bring instant warmth, texture and that lived-in luxury feel. Better yet, they age beautifully. A raw timber floor only gets better with time, and a marble benchtop develops character as it wears. These features aren’t just timeless — they’re soulful.

5. Prioritise Built-to-Last Appliances

Yes, your appliances matter — and they can be total style statements. A sleek integrated fridge, streamlined induction cooktop, or matte-finish oven doesn’t just make your kitchen run smoothly, it also adds to the overall aesthetic. Choosing high-quality, design-led appliances means you won’t need to upgrade every few years. Bonus points for appliances that blend seamlessly into your cabinetry — hello, effortless luxury.

6. Don’t Forget Ceiling Fans — The Chic Kind

Ceiling fans might not scream “designer” at first thought, but brands like Big Ass Fans are changing that. These fans are powerful, whisper-quiet, and come in sleek designs that suit everything from modern-minimal to coastal-cool interiors. They’re the kind of functional feature that also looks insanely good — win-win.

Big Ass Fans

7. Layer Trendy Touches on Top

Once your timeless foundation is in place, then you can have fun with seasonal styling. Think coloured cushions, sculptural vases, artwork and throws. These are easy to switch out when you’re craving a change — without having to redo the whole room.

Mix a little nature, invest in good basics, and don’t underestimate the power of well-designed appliances. With the right foundations, your space will always feel chic, functional and completely your own — just like Bec would do it.

The End of the Aesthetic Compromise: SpectraFlora’s New Pendula Installed Loudspeakers

For decades, interior designers, architects, and renovating homeowners have faced a familiar, frustrating battle. On one side: the desire for clean, uninterrupted sightlines, bespoke cabinetry, and carefully curated interior styling. On the other: the client’s demand for high-end audio.

Traditionally, achieving true audiophile sound meant surrendering precious floor space to imposing, utilitarian boxes that clashed with your carefully chosen oak floors, artisanal ceramics, and soft linen drapery. The alternative? Hiding cheap, mass-produced “in-wall” speakers that sound little better than a rebranded public address system.

But what if you didn’t have to choose between breathtaking sound and immaculate design?

Meet SpectraFlora, the boutique loudspeaker manufacturer from Victoria, Australia, that is rewriting the rules of high-end audio integration. Today, we are thrilled to introduce their newest innovation, designed specifically for the architecture and design community: the Pendula series of installed sound solutions.

SpectraFlora loudspeakers

The SpectraFlora Philosophy: Designed for the Ear and the Eye

Before we dive into the walls, it’s worth understanding the company behind the sound. SpectraFlora was born from a simple frustration: high-end HiFi speakers were often too expensive, visually uninspiring, and lacked the emotional soul of live music. Rather than chasing sterile, clinical measurements, SpectraFlora designs to optimise for emotional impact—delivering sound that raises the hairs on your arms, all while wrapped in handcrafted Australian timber.

Their standalone models, the award-winning Celata 88 and the compact Aphelia 8, have already earned a cult following among Australian audiophiles for their ability to project a massive, live soundstage that makes the physical speakers appear to vanish. Now, SpectraFlora is taking that “disappearing act” a step further. The Pendula series represent the only high-end HiFi installed speakers made right here in Australia, engineered from the ground up for the real rooms we live in.

Introducing the Pendula 8: Architecture Meets Acoustics

The Pendula 8 TL is the first release in this highly anticipated custom installation series, bringing the critically acclaimed acoustics of the Aphelia 8 standmount speaker into an architectural format. Designed in consultation for builders for ease of installation, robustness, and supreme flexibility, the Pendula 8 TL is a revelation for custom home builds and high-end renovations.

Measuring just 176 mm deep and 390 mm wide, designed to slot between wall studs, the Pendula 8 TL fits unobtrusively into your architectural plans without dominating the room’s footprint. But don’t let its shallow profile fool you. Unlike the flimsy, resonant plastic baffles found in standard in-wall speakers, the Pendula 8 is manufactured from 18 mm Australian-made plywood with heavy internal bracing. It is built like a premium piece of bespoke joinery, designed to last for decades while providing an immensely rigid foundation for the world-class drivers housed within.

SpectraFlora loudspeakers

For the designer, this means you can finally offer your clients a no-compromise audio system that respects the visual integrity of a space. Whether you are designing a Hamptons-inspired coastal retreat, a moody minimalist apartment, or a mid-century modern revival, the Pendula 8 TL integrates seamlessly. SpectraFlora offers custom timber finishes and magnetic mounts for optional cloth grilles, allowing the speaker to either become a subtle, complementary texture in the room or vanish entirely from view.

For the specifier, SpectraFlora offers fully custom designs, short supply chains and local expertise, communication, and accountability.

Technology You Can Hear: The Dynamic Waveguide

What truly separates the Pendula 8 from the architectural audio pack is its sound—and that sound is driven by SpectraFlora’s proprietary, patent-pending Dynamic Waveguide design.

In most modern Australian homes—which often feature expansive glazing, timber floors, and plasterboard—sound bounces erratically, causing “muddiness” and harsh echoes. Traditional speakers beam high frequencies in a narrow cone, meaning only one person sitting directly in the “sweet spot” gets good sound.

SpectraFlora solves this with their next-generation Dynamic Waveguide. This sculpted, horn-like feature controls how sound disperses into the room. It combines the intimate, lifelike dynamics of a traditional horn with the smooth, even horizontal distribution of a modern waveguide. The result? A consistent, 90-degree spread of perfect sound.

This constant directivity ensures that reflections off your walls carry the same tonal balance as the direct sound. Practically speaking, your client’s entire sofa—or even the adjoining open-plan kitchen—becomes the sweet spot. This sophisticated dispersion also drastically decreases, and often eliminates, the need for ugly acoustic room treatments.

SpectraFlora loudspeakers

Uncompromising Components & Tailored Options

SpectraFlora refuses to compromise on the internals. The Pendula 8 TL features a world-class 8-inch graphene-coated magnesium woofer sourced from Norway’s legendary SEAS. Inside the incredibly inert, Victorian sheep’s wool-stuffed cabinet, these components deliver crystal-clear vocal intelligibility, fast, tuneful bass, and zero “horn honk” colouration.

The Pendula 8 TL is the first model of the range to be launched with smaller models to follow to suit different spatial requirements and acoustic goals.

Elevate Your Next Project

At a price of $12,000 AUD per pair, the Pendula 8 TL represents an investment in lifelong, emotionally engaging art—both visual and sonic. It is a testament to what is possible when world-class engineering meets sensitive, locally driven design.

Are you ready to elevate the audio experience in your next project without compromising your design vision? Book a consultation with the SpectraFlora team through listen@spectraflora.com. To learn more about the Pendula 8 TL visit www.spectraflora.com.

Rich, nostalgic hues to provide comfort and character this winter

As we transition from the sunfilled summer of brighter colours into the cooler months, the Dulux Colour Forecasters predict a shift toward muted tones and spaces that are bold and expressive, reflecting individuality, encouraging reminiscence and providing emotional warmth.

Dulux Evoke – one of three palettes from the 2026 Dulux Colour Forecast – embraces blush pinks, burnt orange, warm golds and dramatic tones, to create a sense of warmth, depth, and nostalgia. “The palette is perfectly suited to autumn, creating a cocooning atmosphere that mirrors the season’s comfort, reflection, and retreat.” says Lauren Treloar, Dulux Colour and Design Manager.

The Evoke palette encourages consumers to embrace maximalism, individuality and the rise of cottage core, creating a retro ‘nana chic’ space rich in personality and authenticity. The palette provides the perfect stepping stone for those looking to use colour to create a cosy, warm space to provide comfort in the cooler months.

“Lighter tones such as Dulux Baked Clay, Dulux Magic Melon, and Dulux Germania pair beautifully with the deeper, colourful tones of Dulux Misty Grape, Dulux Wink and Dulux Red Jacks to create a character-filled space that truly reflects its resident.” says Treloar.

Stylist Bree Banfield teamed up with the Dulux Colour team, to bring the Dulux Evoke palette to life, transforming the dining room and bedrooms of a family home in Melbourne’s Bayside. Drawing inspiration from ’50s, ’60s, and ’70s design, the team used bold, comforting colours and textures to create spaces that balance the beauty of imperfection with nostalgic charm.

“What immediately struck us about the home was the sense of openness. It was a modern blank canvas, offering clean lines and generous natural light but in need of an injection of warmth and personality that better reflected the family residing within it.” says Treloar. “The space is primarily used as a central living and gathering area for the family, so our design approach was to layer colour and thoughtful styling to transform it from a neutral and understated room into a welcoming, character-filled environment”.

In the dining area, warm golden tones of Dulux Germania make a striking statement within the alcove, complemented by Dulux White Beach on the surrounding walls. The accent colour elevates the space, creating a welcoming and comforting atmosphere. Layering vintage, handcrafted, and sustainable décor alongside more vibrant shades from the Evoke palette, the team added depth, texture, and interest throughout the room.

Discussing Banfield’s approach to incorporating Dulux Evoke throughout the dining room, she recommends focusing on proportions first. “Choose one or two mid-tone colours like Dulux Baked Clay or Dulux Germania as your foundation, then layer in the deeper hues in smaller but impactful moments. Work with texture in the same way. Velvet, glass, mid-tone timbers and handcrafted pieces help emphasise the eclectic spirit of the palette. Don’t be afraid to include something unexpected – a vintage find, a sculptural lamp, or patterned upholstery. Dulux Evoke is all about individuality and emotional warmth, not about matching everything perfectly.”

For the bedrooms, the team embraced bolder, deeper shades to create grounding, intimate spaces. In one room, Dulux Chocolate Treat, a moody, rich brown, sets a cosy foundation. Treloar adds, “The Evoke palette has brought a real sense of personality into this family home. By layering earthy neutrals with richer tones, the space now feels welcoming, conversational, and full of character. The colours create a cocooning atmosphere that encourages connection and comfort, transforming the home into a place where people naturally want to gather and spend time together.”

The second bedroom showcases the versatility of the Evoke palette with Dulux Baked Clay as a feature wall paired with Dulux Snowy Mountains Half. Velvet materials, dark timber tones and carefully curated décor work together with the walls to add richness, texture, depth and warmth to the space.

“Leaning into tactile materials will enhance the mood,” says Banfield. “Velvet, faux fur, marble, glass and mid-tone or darker timbers all pair beautifully with this palette. Curved or sculptural shapes help soften the depth of colour and keep the room feeling warm and inviting rather than heavy. And don’t shy away from mixing eras or styles – the blend of vintage, handcrafted and contemporary pieces is part of what gives Dulux Evoke its eclectic and expressive personality.”

Autumn/winter styling tips using the Dulux Colour Forecast 2026 Evoke palette

  • Layer colour with character: Blend influences from multiple eras rather than sticking to just one. Think art deco curves, postmodern boldness, and futuristic accents to make the space your own.
  • Build from a soft base: Start with warm colours such as soft yellows, muted melon and warm mustard balanced with soft blues and chocolate. This calm foundation allows deeper accents – such as plums, reds and deep aqua – to add contrast and a cultured edge.
  • Embrace texture: Texture is key. Mix materials like velvet, glass, mid-tone timbers and handcrafted pieces in decor and furniture, and don’t be afraid of patterns.
  • Bring the warmth with your colours: In the cooler months, shifting sunlight can make your spaces feel cooler. Consider heroing warm-based tones like Dulux Baked Clay, Dulux Germania or Dulux Chocolate Treat to restore warmth and richness into your space.
  • Add nana-chic touches: Incorporate colourful second hand decor to bring personality and charm. Keep an eye out for hand painted ceramic and coloured glass to add a point of interest to the room. If you can see it in your nana’s house, add it!
  • Try before you buy: Lighting and existing finishes can change the appearance of a colour. Order some Dulux A4 Colour Swatches or test with a Dulux sample pot and paint a section of a wall or large card to see how the colour looks throughout the day in different areas of the space.

When it comes to updating our homes, timing often matters just as much as style. Maybe it’s a living room that’s crying out for a refresh before the holidays, a guest bedroom that needs a lift before family arrives, or a study you’ve decided to finally turn into a sanctuary of calm.

The dream is to transform your space with ease, without the endless waiting or the daunting installation that can come with some home projects.

That’s exactly where plantation shutters step in, and more specifically, where the Express Shutter range from Tuiss Blinds Online changes the game. These shutters offer all the elegance and practicality we’ve come to love in plantation shutters, but with one important twist; they’re designed for faster dispatch and easier DIY installation than ever before.

The Enduring Appeal of Shutters

Plantation shutters have always carried a certain timeless charm. Their clean lines, adjustable louvres, and ability to suit a range of interiors make them one of the most versatile window furnishings you can choose. They provide control over light and privacy, add insulation, and bring a sense of balance to a room that’s hard to match with any other window treatment.

Traditionally, shutters have been considered a more premium, sometimes slow-to-arrive choice. But with Tuiss’s Express collection, that wait has been cut dramatically. Instead of weeks or months, Express shutters are dispatched quickly, often between 7-10 working days, so your home can be transformed in a fraction of the time.

Why Express? The DIY Factor

If you’ve ever thought shutters were out of reach because of the installation, Express shutters are here to prove otherwise. Every style in the range has been designed to be as DIY-friendly as possible. You don’t need to be a tradesperson, and you certainly don’t need to worry about having any prior experience with shutters.

With all except the ‘kit’ styles, the Tuiss shutter panels arrive fully assembled so instead of tackling a fiddly project, you’re simply putting together a polished finish with clever systems that make sense. It’s window dressing made simple, empowering you to take full control of your space without the need to call in help.

A Style for Every DIYer

What makes the Express collection particularly exciting is the variety of styles. While all come in a crisp, versatile white (the perfect neutral to work across interiors), the different designs mean you can choose a shutter that matches both your space and your confidence level.

  • Full Frame Plantation Shutters
For those who love the traditional look, full frame shutters are a timeless choice. Panels can be opened like doors, giving you flexibility and the elegance of a framed finish.
  • Easi-Fit Shutters
Frameless and wonderfully streamlined, Easi-Fit shutters live up to their name. They use slimline pivot hinges and magnetic plates, making them an ideal pick for anyone who wants their shutters up in record time.
  • Fixed Shutters
Sometimes simplicity is everything. Fixed shutters don’t open on hinges, but instead slot neatly into top and bottom channels, which are adhered in place with strong adhesive tape. It’s as close to instant style as you can get, and technically a no-drill solution.
  • Kit Shutters
The Kit Shutters are available in the Fixed and Easi-Fit styles, and come conveniently flat-packed for those who don’t mind a little bit more assembly work in order to save some money. The most affordable in the range, the panels do need to be completely assembled on these ones.

Across all these options, the hallmark feature remains the same: adjustable louvres that give you control over light and privacy, without compromising on the elegant aesthetic shutters are known for. These styles are crafted from advanced polymer, ensuring that they are engineered to withstand warping, cracking and fading. They are premium quality at an irresistible price.

White Done Right

Some might think that limiting the Express range to white could narrow its appeal, but in reality, it’s a masterstroke of versatility. White shutters are endlessly adaptable. They brighten a room, add contrast against coloured walls, and create a crisp, fresh frame for your windows.

In coastal interiors, they echo the easy-breezy vibe of sun-bleached timbers and sandy palettes. In modern homes, they sharpen up clean architectural lines. And in more traditional spaces, they bring a classic elegance that never feels dated. White is, in many ways, the most timeless choice of all.

Speed Meets Style

Beyond ease of installation, the other major advantage of Express shutters is timing. They’re dispatched faster than other shutter ranges, which means you don’t have to wait long to see your transformation come to life.

That speed makes them perfect for:

  • Seasonal refreshes – get your home holiday-ready in time for entertaining.
  • Special events – create the perfect backdrop for hosting without a long lead time.
  • Quick wins – if you’ve been putting off a bigger project, Express shutters offer an achievable way to make a dramatic impact without delay.

More Than Just Looks

While Express shutters shine in their ease and speed, they don’t compromise on the everyday functionality that makes shutters such a worthwhile investment. Movable louvres mean you can adjust natural light with a flick of the wrist. Close them completely for darkness and privacy, angle them for filtered daylight, or open them wide to let sunshine pour in.

They also act as an extra layer of insulation, helping to regulate temperature in both summer and winter – a quiet energy-saving benefit that homeowners often only appreciate once they’ve lived with shutters for a while.

DIY Satisfaction, Guaranteed

There’s something especially rewarding about completing a home project yourself. With Express shutters, that sense of accomplishment comes quickly, without the frustration that can sometimes come with flatpack furniture or complex instructions. Tuiss provides step-by-step guidance with every order, and because the panels come pre-assembled, you’ll be enjoying your handiwork sooner than you thought possible.

And if you are looking for different colours and styles, the shutter range from Tuiss also offers Solid Timber Plantation Shutters in a range of painted colours and wood tones, and even a full framed no-drill Click2Fit Shutter.

It’s proof that high-end style doesn’t need to feel intimidating or require a professional to get it right.

A Smart Investment

Plantation shutters are more than a passing trend. Their history stretches back centuries, and yet they remain one of the most in-demand window furnishings today. By choosing Express shutters, you’re investing not only in timeless style, but also in a smarter way to upgrade your home.

They add instant curb appeal, create a finished look indoors, and can even enhance property value thanks to their durability and classic aesthetic. Combine that with the lower cost of DIY installation, and you’ve got a home improvement that works hard in every sense.

If you love homes that feel considered—rooms that balance texture, light and form—there’s every chance you care just as much about how your spaces sound. That’s the promise behind SpectraFlora, a boutique loudspeaker maker from Victoria that designs for ears and eyes.

Their speakers are crafted from Australian timber, tuned for real living rooms, and styled to complement contemporary interiors rather than dominate them. The result? A listening experience that’s dynamic and emotionally engaging, housed in furniture-grade cabinetry you’ll be proud to put on display.

SpectraFlora loudspeakers

Complete Home is all about ideas that elevate everyday living and SpectraFlora fits that brief perfectly. Their approach is equal parts engineering discipline and design sensitivity—speakers that look at home in a Hamptons-inspired lounge as easily as a modern minimal apartment. The brand’s rising reputation stems from something listeners feel within the first track: scale and nuance, without the “tech-box” aesthetic. That’s rare. And it’s very Australian.

“We design loudspeakers that invite you to sit, stay, and rediscover your favourite music—without asking you to redesign your room.”

Why SpectraFlora stands out

Australian timbers, Australian craft. Each cabinet is built from locally sourced timbers with finishes that honour the grain rather than hiding it. Think warm oaks, rich blackwoods and clean, modern lines that sit comfortably alongside stone, linen and soft metals. Inside, you’ll even find Victorian wool used as acoustic damping—sustainable, effective and proudly local.

SpectraFlora loudspeakers

Technology you can hear. SpectraFlora is known for engineering ideas that serve the listening experience. A signature is the Dynamic Waveguide—a carefully sculpted horn-like feature that guides how the tweeter disperses sound into your room. It’s about preserving clarity and balance across a wider area, so the music feels coherent whether you’re centred on the sofa or curled up at the end with a book.

Tuned for real homes. The team listens and measures in living-scale rooms, not just labs. That means their speakers aim for consistent, even sound across a wide listening area, with bass that’s articulate rather than boomy and treble that stays refined as you move about. Whether you’re hosting friends or enjoying a quiet evening, the presentation remains balanced and engaging.

Meet the range

  • Celata 88 — statement sound with sculptural poise

Type: 3-way stand-mount Signature: Scale, serenity and a “disappearing act” image

Celata 88 is the speaker that put SpectraFlora on many Australian audiophiles’ shortlists. It uses the company’s Dynamic Waveguide™ (a patent pending design developed in-house) to achieve a smooth, consistent spread of high frequencies—so your sofa’s sweet spot becomes a sweet zone. A dedicated midrange driver preserves vocal texture and presence, while the low end is delivered by SpectraFlora’s performance-first approach to bass, their patent pending Celata® design.

What listeners often remark on is how effortlessly the Celata 88 scales: a solo piano sounds intimate and woody; a full orchestral climax arrives with drama but not glare; a late-night indie track breathes with air and space. You can listen loudly without fatigue, or quietly without losing the thread.

Aesthetically, Celata 88 reads as crafted furniture rather than equipment. Rounded edges, restrained geometry and real-timber finishes help the pair settle into both light and moody palettes, sitting comfortably alongside stone, linen and matte metal accents.

SpectraFlora loudspeakers

  • Aphelia 8 — compact, contemporary and captivating

Type: 2-way stand-mount Signature: Detail, timing and room-friendly bass

Launched in Melbourne at the June 2025 Australian Design Show, Aphelia 8 brings the Dynamic Waveguide concept to a smaller, design-friendly footprint. A superb 8-inch graphene-coated magnesium woofer works in a sealed cabinet for taut, tuneful low end that integrates gracefully into modern Australian architecture—think timber floors, plasterboard walls and generous glazing. Expect crisp transients, open vocals and an almost tactile sense of rhythm. For design-forward spaces where you don’t want bulky boxes dominating the vignette, Aphelia 8 delivers a composed, confident presence.

With its slim silhouette and curated timber finishes, Aphelia 8 feels at home in Scandi, coastal and Japandi schemes, especially when paired with slender stands flanking a lowline cabinet.

The SpectraFlora difference, decoded (in plain English)

Dynamic Waveguide (what it does for you). In most rooms, sound bounces off walls, glass and ceilings. A waveguide is a gentle, sculpted flare around the tweeter that shapes how those high notes spread. SpectraFlora’s Dynamic version is tuned to maintain a more constant directivity—that’s engineer-speak for “similar tonality in more seats and in reflections off surfaces.” Practically, your music feels even and clear as you move around.

SpectraFlora loudspeakers

Quiet cabinets & natural damping. By combining braced timber enclosures with carefully chosen internal materials—most notably Victorian wool—SpectraFlora helps suppress unwanted resonances. Translation: lower noise floor, better micro-detail, and that sense of ease that invites longer listening.

Controlled bass, happier rooms. Especially in Australia’s mix of open plan living and reflective surfaces, a sealed cabinet can sound cleaner because it doesn’t lean on the room for extra bass. You get articulate low end that still carries weight, but with less boom and more groove. For larger rooms and lower bass extension—bass you can feel—SpectraFlora Celata system uses two horizontally opposed, internal 8-inch subwoofers that provide feedback to one another to prevent overshoot and boomy, bloated bass.

SpectraFlora loudspeakers

Designed for interiors as much as audiophiles

SpectraFlora treats each speaker as an object for living with, not just listening to. Finishes are curated to complement common Australian interior schemes—oak floors, pale stone, bronze hardware, bouclé and textured weaves—so your speakers become part of the styling, not an afterthought. Prefer a stronger design statement? The baffle’s sculptural waveguide reads beautifully under a soft wash of lamplight, and darker stains pair naturally with smoked glass, leather and moodier palettes.

Because the cabinetry is real timber, minor bumps and scratches can be refinished, and the look improves with age. The net effect is intentional luxury: materials that feel grounded and genuine rather than glossy or disposable.

Sustainability you can see (and hear)

  • Local timbers, responsibly sourced, finished for longevity and repairability.
  • Australian wool for internal damping—renewable, effective and low-VOC.
  • Made in Victoria, supporting skilled jobs and shortening supply chains.
  • Designed to last decades—drivers and internal components are accessible, and real-wood finishes can be refreshed if life happens.

Buying once—and buying well—is a sustainability choice. SpectraFlora leans into that philosophy with objects designed to last, both acoustically and aesthetically.

SpectraFlora loudspeakers

What you’ll hear (even at everyday volumes)

  • A wide, stable soundstage that places performers precisely, with believable scale.
  • Natural, intimate voices—from jazz crooners to podcasts—without splashiness or nasal glare.
  • Fast, tuneful bass that keeps time with drums and bass guitar rather than swelling around them.
  • Low-level detail that makes recordings feel alive: the breath before a phrase, fingers releasing a string, the room around the notes.
  • Consistency across seats thanks to controlled dispersion; the music stays balanced as you move.

It’s this combination—scale, speed and serenity—that has earned SpectraFlora repeat “wow” moments at demos and enthusiastic word-of-mouth among design-savvy music lovers.

Quick guide: which model suits you?

  • Aphelia 8 if you want compact elegance, sealed-box composure and a sound that flatters smaller to mid-sized living spaces.
  • Celata 88 if you crave the dynamic ease and scale of a 3-way in larger rooms or open-plan zones—without losing subtlety at low volumes.

Either way, you’re getting the same design DNA: the Dynamic Waveguide’s even dispersion, beautiful cabinetry, and meticulous attention to materials that rewards long sessions.

Hear them, feel them, style them

Speakers shouldn’t ask you to choose between sound and style. SpectraFlora’s answer is a confident “both”: advanced acoustic engineering wrapped in handcrafted Australian cabinetry, designed to sit beautifully in the homes we actually live in. Whether you’re cueing Sunday morning jazz or setting the soundtrack to a dinner with friends, these are the kind of objects that make everyday moments feel cinematic—and make music feel like part of the room.

Ready to listen?

  • Book a private audition or design consult—bring interior design ideas and your favourite tracks.
  • Discuss finishes and stands to harmonise with your interior palette.
  • Settle in and hear what careful dispersion control and intelligent cabinet design can do for the music you love.
