Intricate detailing takes the cake

Created as part of a knockdown-rebuild project in collaboration with Riccon Homes, this kitchen by Sco Design is aiming to be the centrepiece of a modern family home.

The brief called for a space that felt functional, seamless and contemporary, while delivering the level of refinement expected in a newly built residence.

The first key design choice was the material palette. Aiming for a modern design, as requested by the homeowners, the design balances warmth and complexity across the entire build.

Visitors will first direct their attention towards the marble island, which boasts a timber batten feature board. This makes for a solid visual companion for the kitchen cabinetry, featuring a Hampton 25 profile finished in two-pack, complemented by a satin montage colour that adds depth and elegance without overpowering the overall design.

Storage was one of the project’s primary considerations, as with all busy kitchens, it needs to service the daily demands of the homeowner’s family but come with enough organisation and storage to remain neat and tidy throughout its use. To achieve this, Sco Design incorporated an extensive storage system that maximises usability while maintaining the clean, uncluttered aesthetic central to the brief.

Another standout feature is the luxurious stone used throughout the design. This material extends seamlessly from the benchtop to the splashback in a continuous slab, making for a strong visual statement while also reinforcing a sense of cohesion in the room.

The finished result successfully balances practicality with visual impact. Every element has been designed to support the demands of daily life while contributing to a polished and sophisticated aesthetic. More than simply a functional workspace, the kitchen serves as a defining feature of the home, showcasing how thoughtful design, premium materials and smart storage solutions can come together to create a space that is both beautiful and highly liveable.
