Design Kila Clarke (mystoryco)
Build mystoryco and northside joinery

This modern kitchen is an artful fusion of country-style elements and beautiful functionality. Before the renovation, the galley kitchen restricted movement. It also had a sense of disconnect to the rest of the open-plan living spaces. It was dark, due to a single window and heavy timber cabinetry from floor to ceiling, and there were storage issues that needed to be addressed.

During the renovation, the existing skylight was replaced with a clear glass version, and two large windows fitted to invite in more light. The cabinet doors and panels in two-pack finish add a touch of elegance. A custom island bench replaced the L-shaped benchtop, offering plenty of much-needed storage.

Austaron Surfaces

As part of the renovation, a wall was removed to add space and a sense of connectedness, as well as to increase the volume of natural light that filtered into the space. The final result is a beautiful custom kitchen that will serve the family for many years to come.

Stunning alternatives to stone for Hampton kitchen design.

This is a harmonious white surface with delicate charcoal veining that perfectly captures the Hamptons light-focused aesthetic whilst giving a nod to the grey undertones often found in this style.

If the kitchen is the heart of the home, the benchtop is the life of the kitchen. This is a space to gather around, to prepare food for those you love and in a Hamptons kitchen, where island benches are signature elements, they can serve as a space for dining too.

One of our favourite benchtop solutions would have to be Staron. A zerosilica product, Staron has been available within Australia for many years, well before engineered stone became a popular benchtop option. Used in both commercial and residential projects, Staron Solid Surfaces are an excellent alternative to engineered and natural stone products.

The Staron Story

Developed in 1992, Staron is manufactured from refined bauxite, a safe silica-free mineral, and blended with pure acrylic resin. This combination results in a high-performing and safe solid surface. Thanks to its non-porous nature, Staron is both stain-resistant and easy to clean. It offers a durable, hygienic surface with high strength and UV stability. Plus, its inconspicuous joining method eliminates dirt-trapping crevices. Staron can also be easily thermoformed into graceful curves and routed to customise vertical applications. A value-adding product, Staron is a renewable and repairable surface. After years of use, it can be easily sanded and restored to its original condition.

Material Matters

Staron is an ideal option for benchtops and many other areas of a Hamptons kitchen project. Staron can also be paired with laminate benchtops for those with a more budget-friendly criteria. As it is able to withstand the ill effects of water, prioritising Staron in key areas will maximise the longevity of the kitchen.

Timber is another material that teams beautifully with Staron. Together they provide a warmth and quieter work surface, and both look amazing together when sanded to a matt finish. Additionally, both Staron and timber are easily renewable, providing usability for the long term.

Although natural stone has often been favoured in a Hamptons kitchen design, it requires sealing around food preparation areas due to its porous nature. Take the stress out of your benchtop with Staron. Compared to natural stone, Staron is silky and warmer to touch, nonporous, seamless, lightweight and hygienic, and it provides a quieter work space.

Staron In The Hamptons

When it comes to colour options, Staron doesn’t disappoint. With a large offering to choose from, the Staron Supreme and recently launched Premiere range offer plenty of different designs to personalise a Hamptons-inspired project.

For this kitchen, Supreme Morning Sky offers a harmonious white surface with delicate charcoal veining that perfectly captures the Hamptons light-focused style. The white base with its satin finish also reflects the light, making the room feel brighter and creating a relaxed aesthetic that suits country and coastal homes alike. Additionally, the ease of customising edge profiles makes incorporating specific design detail even more versatile for capturing that timeless Hamptons style.

The Staron benchtop in Cotton White is without a doubt the kitchen’s hero feature.

This kitchen is an excellent example of how a compact space can be designed to be aesthetically pleasing, yet incredibly functional too. Gone are the days of needing vast amounts of space to attain your dream kitchen – a clever, considered design like this can transform a smaller area into a charming contemporary kitchen.

Austaron Surfaces

The design team chose a neutral palette, giving the kitchen a light, bright ambience. The Shaker-style cabinetry provides interest, while the exquisite splashback featuring Southern Cross Ceramics Artisan Vienna Clay adds extra depth to the mostly white design.

The Staron benchtop in Cotton White is without a doubt the kitchen’s hero feature. Staron is the benchtop surface of choice for many renovators and kitchen designers. Why? Because of its versatility and durability. Staron surfaces are all non-porous in nature, making them easy to clean. They can be re-sanded and restored back to their original condition after a few years of use too, meaning this kitchen’s benchtop can stay looking crisp and new for years to come.

Austaron Surfaces

Austaron Surfaces

Staron surfaces also offer great design flexibility, thanks to their homogenous nature and inconspicuous joining capabilities. The design team used this to their advantage in this kitchen, resulting in a beautiful U-shaped benchtop without any unsightly join markings visible.

The end result is a stunning culinary space that’s bound to stay functional and contemporary well into the future.

Dreaming of flowing curves sculpted into any shape imaginable? Your subconscious might be telling you it’s time for a renovation — starting with your surfaces. Staron Solid Surfaces can be thermoformed into any form, whether curving into a bathroom nook, adding a striking feature on a kitchen island, or seamlessly forming a benchtop sink. These silica-free, non-toxic surfaces are available in 80 different colours, with Staron releasing a few more this year to get your design senses tingling.

The recently added Sanded Iceblue captures the light-blue hues of frozen treetops and the essence of an arctic winter. Semi-translucent and with a soft blue background with fine white particulates, Sanded Iceblue is a gentle colour for any project. Add backlighting to this new release for a real design impact. While Neo Mint shook up interiors as the 2020 colour of the year (according to WGSN), Sanded Mint was creating a softer impact in homes. This soft, pastel mint green is inspired by the lush nature found around natural waterfalls.

Another semi-translucent colour perfect for backlit settings, this placid colour features fine frosty-white particulates for depth. Terrazzo Como draws on the tones found in nature and the architecture of Como, Italy. With a lustrous grey background hue and larger white and clear particulates, this colour redefines the desirable terrazzo effect. Staron surfaces are comprised of a natural and pure mineral derived from bauxite and blended with an advanced pure acrylic resin, resulting in a premium solid surface material.

With a non-porous nature, inconspicuous joining capabilities and the ability to renew the surface, Staron can be used for endless applications. This beautiful, affordable and low-maintenance product is also backed by a 10-year warranty for peace of mind.

This minimalist, contemporary house is an entertainer’s dream. Home to a family
who regularly host large numbers of guests, it has Dekton® surfaces for durability, low maintenance, strength and a natural colour scheme.

The clients — a family of four with two teenage children — wanted a clutter-free, low-maintenance interior with minimalist, natural-coloured materials and colour scheme. Designed by Alec Pappas Architects, this new house located in Kyle Bay, south of Sydney, is designed to take in water views. The clients wanted a minimalist, contemporary home that wouldn’t date and that would complement the streetscape with other modern homes nearby.
The client has a close working relationship with FORM-RITE Co, which suggested the use of Dekton®.

Kitchen
The kitchen is used by the family during the week and for entertaining on the weekends (including 60 people for Christmas). The 3-metre-long island, clad in Dekton® Aura15, is the showpiece of the kitchen and a place for family and friends to comfortably congregate around.
Inspired by Calacatta and Carrara marble, Dekton® Aura15 provides timeless colour and style, with soft winding veining to complement the concrete-slab floor and timber-veneer joinery. Even with so many people using the benchtop, the surface is very easy to clean with liquids simply wiping away with no fear of stains.

Formal Dining Table
The clients wanted a dining table that has a glass aesthetic but with the durability of Dekton®. They selected Dekton® Spectra, which is so black it looks like glass and reflects the sparkling objects on it.

Bathroom
Large-format slabs on the walls and floors of the bathroom create the streamlined, minimalist look the clients desired. The bathrooms have a natural colour scheme to create soft, sanctuary-like spaces, with Dekton® Blanc Concrete and Dekton® Keon providing neutral tones to complement the European oak joinery. Basins in Dekton® Halo offer a crisp, glossy surface on top of the timber vanities.

Which Neolith style is right for you? https://www.completehome.com.au/kitchens/neolith-style-right.html Thu, 04 Apr 2019 03:11:46 +0000 https://www.completehome.com.au/?p=49485 With 38 colours available in four different finishes, Neolith transforms imagination into functionality and is more than a breathtaking Sintered Stone.

With 38 colours available in four different finishes, Neolith is perfect for every project.

Transforming imagination into functionality, Neolith is more than a breathtaking Sintered Stone. This surface is scratch-, stain- and heat-resistant, as well as being impervious to chemical cleaners and easy to clean – making it perfect for the kitchen!

With so many colour options to choose from, it might be hard to pinpoint the colour for your dream home. Recently, we chatted with CDK Stone’s director, David Onesti to discuss which Neolith styles are currently on-trend.

“Neolith has a colour for everyone and for every design. Whatever look you are going for in your home, Neolith has a colour and finish to suit you. Right now, there are three Neolith styles that are clearly dominating the Australian design community,” David says. “Neolith Estatuario is by far the most popular style in the range. With a bright backdrop and elegant marble veining, it is hard to go past the sense of luxury Neolith Estatuario adds to a home.”

Neolith Estatuario is characterised by its combination of thick and subtle marble veining. This contemporary twist on a classic oozes tranquillity and harmonises with light, dark and timber elements effortlessly.

“The industrial look is still a popular choice for many renovators. Neolith Beton takes the timeless look of concrete and turns it into a modern masterpiece. Beton adds character and maturity, as well as a tone base to your home,” David explains.

Besides the popular grey and white stones, there’s also a bold Neolith colour on the rise.

“Neolith Iron Corten is one style that has been popular for months. This colour draws inspiration from a rusted iron look. I have seen this style growing in popularity for use outdoors, especially as facades, feature walls and features around barbeque areas,” continues David.

But what if you don’t want the status quo? There is more to Neolith than the popular styles. With designs that draw inspiration from marbles, granites and other exotic stones, as well as timeless elements such as timber, concrete, metals and sand, Neolith has a style and finish for every look.

David goes on to explain some other trending colours and the hidden jewels in the range.

“Neolith’s newly released Blanco Carrara BC02 and Zaha Stone are also popular, especially with home renovators. These two Sintered Stones are elegant representations of white and grey marbles, rounding out the Neolith Classtone range.”

“There are some undiscovered gems in the Neolith range too. I personally love Neolith La Boheme’s representation of Labanese cedar and I have seen this stone used perfectly in creating a uniformed floor from the kitchen out to an alfresco.”

Whatever design you are after for your dream home, Neolith has a colour for you. This premium Sintered Stone is ideal for adding a sense of luxury to your next project.
