Architecturally designed with family living in mind, this Oran Park duplex by Oscar George Projects ticks all the boxes

Each dwelling has four bedrooms, abundant storage, alfresco dining and entertaining areas, and thoughtfully designed interior living spaces.

While the process for building the duplex was straightforward, given it was new release land, Charlie Abdul Ahad of Oscar George Projects put considerable thought into the design, selection of materials and how the homes would be used by the young families that continue to flock to Oran Park, one of south-west Sydney’s fastest growing suburbs.

“Duplexes and freestanding homes make up the majority of dwellings in Oran Park. It was important that the duplex stood out from the homes around it, but provided everything families looking to live in this area need,” says Charlie. “The north facing views of the property allow for natural lighting and alfresco living. The open kitchen, living and dining spaces open up onto an alfresco dining area, making it easy for young families to enjoy a communal and multifunctional space.”

The stunning kitchen offers ample pantry space, an island bench with waterfall edges, matte black tapware and stainless steel Smeg appliances, including an integrated fridge-freezer and dishwasher. There is also a built-in DeLonghi coffee machine and, nearby, a wine and whiskey bar.

The open plan lounge, dining and family room features tiled floors and high ceilings, while the large alfresco area which flows from the family room, making indoor-outdoor living seamless, boasts an outdoor kitchen with a built-in barbecue, cupboards and sink along and overlooks a beautifully landscaped private yard.

Each of the four bedrooms in the Oran Park duplex is of generous size. The master bedroom has a modern ensuite and large walk-in wardrobe, the others have built-in wardrobes. As an extra luxury for parents, there is a balcony off the main bedroom offering amazing views over the district and Blue Mountains. The epitome of contemporary design, the two bathrooms and ensuite feature floor-to-ceiling tiles, custom cabinetry and quality fittings.

“One of the most unusual features of this duplex is the ample storage it offers, from the custom cabinetry in the garage and laundry room to the generous storage in the kitchen and dining area, study nook, walk-in robes, built-in robes and linen cabinetry on the top floor,” says Charlie. “We added storage in every room of the home to  ensure it would accommodate the needs of young families. Other noteworthy features include internal access from the garage, keyless entry, an alarm system and security cameras.

“To complement the clean, modern design of the duplex, we styled it with contemporary luxury finishes,” adds Charlie. “Everything from marble splashbacks and matt black tapware and handles to a freestanding bath and high-end appliances, allowing us to achieve our goal of affordable luxury.”

As to the construction of the duplex, it is brick veneer with a concrete slab on the ground floor and a timber floor on level one. For the façade, Charlie opted for a mix of contrasting materials, namely render, face bricks, CFC (compressed fibre cement) feature panels and timber panelling. The well-orchestrated palette of materials has delivered a look that is modern and luxurious.
