Flinders House | Blending Contemporary Design and Natural Surroundings with CUTEK®

Gallery

Designed to reflect the local coastal area and natural gumtrees on the property, Flinders House is a barn-style contemporary Australian home.

Located in the picturesque Mornington Peninsula of Victoria, this residence is enveloped by a diverse array of indigenous and exotic plants meticulously arranged to ensure privacy. The homeowners valued a seamless connection between the indoors and outdoors, enabling them to fully immerse themselves in the enchanting garden and surrounding space. This seamless connection was achieved with CUTEK® Cladding.

To harmonize with the natural environment and withstand the challenges of bushfire season, the exterior of the house was adorned with Silvertop Ash cladding. This timber cladding underwent a transformative process, achieved by applying a coating of CUTEK® Extreme CD50 and imbued with CUTEK®’s Grey Mist Colourtone, which instantly infused the cladding with a silver hue, echoing the majestic silver gumtrees that grace the property. To enhance the distinction of the home’s entrances and window frames, CUTEK® Colourtone Black Ash was carefully employed, creating a captivating yet subtle contrast against the gray backdrop of the cladding.

The utilization of CUTEK® Extreme CD50 in conjunction with CUTEK® Colourtones not only shields the Silvertop Ash from the harmful effects of UV rays but also reduces the likelihood of cupping, warping, and splitting over time. These innovative CUTEK® oils penetrate deeply into the timber, safeguarding it from within and minimizing maintenance requirements, thereby extending the lifespan of the cladding.
