Tiles to tough the elements
If the name Monier sounds familiar, that’s because this company has been in the roofing business for more than 100 years. Monier recently revealed its latest foray into roofing solutions with the Elemental range, and this one is special.
Inferred by the name, Elemental has been developed to withstand whatever nature can throw at it, including hail, heat, salt and storms, and its secret lies in the materials. Created from an advanced fibre-reinforced engineered composite material, which was developed from a technology commonly used in the automotive and aerospace industries, Elemental is perfect for Australia’s often harsh weather conditions.
“Advanced composites are made from a process that sees high-strength resin reinforced with glass and subsequently compressed; this then cures and enables the material to harden permanently to form a strong, stable and very durable material,” says Drew Spiden, General Manager of CSR Monier.
Although the people at Monier considered performance and durability as paramount, they knew it was important to produce a roofing option that subscribed to contemporary Australian trends, which is why the range is modern and slim-line.
Sitting on Noosa’s spectacular waterfront, the HIA-CSR Home of the Year in the Queensland Region Housing Awards 2015 was described as “a finely detailed custom-built home exploring the upper limits of engineering and design and set apart by its extensive use of high-end finishes and fittings,” according to the judges at HIA Queensland.
“Australian homes weather tough elements and the building materials we use need to survive those conditions. We chose the Elemental Series because it’s exceptionally durable and delivers long-term protection for the home,” says designer Paul Clout.
