Be inspired by her personal dream bath in the heart of Milan. The beautiful Italian recently had the bathroom of her new 100 m² apartment on Arco della Pace in the heart of Milan renovated. In order to live up to her ideas of minimalist aesthetics, she opted for the freestanding Meisterstück Centro Duo Oval bathtub and two Ming washbowls made from KALDEWEI sustainable steel enamel.

Put together with skill by the team at Lion Ox Building Group, it meets all the requirements requested by a busy family. Featuring multifunctional purpose, the large-scale size of this spacious room serves not only as a wet room for bathing, but also as a laundry thanks to some clever joinery that discreetly hides a washer and dryer behind its folding timber doors.

A floating timber vanity sits below face-height cabinetry with mirrored doors, offering plenty of storage. Matching timber frames two large highlight windows, which allow in plenty of natural light without sacrificing privacy. The numerous touches of natural timber, from the door and window frames to the vanity and cabinetry, give this room its rustic flair, complementing the imperfect-look ceramic tiles on the feature wall.

In subtle shades of soft blue, with a mix of embossed patterns, the random allocation of the feature wall tiles adds an artisan feel that sits beautifully alongside the textural variations of the timber accents. Framing the rest of the walls from floor to ceiling is a stone-look large-format tile in a soft grey, which is carried across the floor in a larger size. Providing an ideal surface to prevent moisture damage in this dual-purpose wet room, the subtle colour palette is far from sterile.

The varied texture, veining and blue/grey hues in the tile selection give the room plenty of movement without overwhelming the space, resulting in a relaxed ambience that doesn’t feel precious. A clean, white bath and matching countertop basin add a crisp element that is most appropriate in a bathroom, while the fluted edges forming each fixture is in keeping with the room’s artistic flair and add another element of visual interest.

Rounding out this highly considered design is brushed nickel tapware and fittings. From the showerhead to the bath mixer, wall-mounted basin mixer and vertical heated towel rails, the elegant yet muted finish of these fittings is a subtle complement in the space, allowing the timber and feature wall tile to remain the heroes of the room.

A shower formed by a large frameless glass enclosure keeps the bathroom dry, while a wall niche lined with the same blue feature tiles ties the two sides of the room together. With plenty of light, innovative functionality and a visually appealing material palette, this family bathroom is a knockout.
