When working with a smaller bathroom space, it’s imperative that the design factor in scalable furnishings, uncluttered decorative pieces and efficient storage solutions.

The owners of this Eltham-based ensuite called on local business Yeomans Bagno Ceramiche to help them create their dream space. They wanted to evoke feelings of warmth and create an inviting atmosphere with a luxurious touch.

One of the key design elements is the stunning feature subway tile with its beautiful colour tone variations and herringbone lay. This subway tile perfectly complements the terrazzo tiles, mirroring the warm brown and earthy tones. Gold accents were requested by the owner to add to the luxe ambience and were executed via small details such as the gold-trim framing around the shower niche, the brass tapware, hooks and fixtures throughout the space.

The subtle details are what make this ensuite feel bespoke and unique, from the shelf above the toilet to the oak vanity and the decorative wall lighting that brings a soft mood to the bathroom. All these elements work together in harmony.

This bathroom is evidence that good things do in fact come in small packages and, despite its petite nature, it ticks all the boxes with regard to style and functionality. Thanks to its minimal decor and the vanity and basin being in scale to the room, it is comfortable and offers ample space for easy access and use.

Defined by the deep colour and alluring texture of exquisite Nero Marquina black marble floor and wall tiles, this ensuite and bathroom combo is punctuated with pops of brushed-brass tapware and accessories.

The owners of this bathroom worked closely with Geelong Tiles and Bathware (GT&B) to find the perfect products to create these luxury spaces.

Taking a closer look at the ensuite, the well-equipped space features a large combined shower/bath compartment area. Of vital importance to the owners was cohesion between the wet areas of the home. The colour and textural palette of the ensuite continues into the combined bathroom/laundry area to create an effortlessly cohesive finish.

The ensuite was an extension to the existing 1980s dwelling. The remainder of the residence was renovated to bring it up to date with the modern luxurious feel the clients were aiming for.

Designing something that would fit within the existing building envelope was a challenge. The ensuite needed to be designed on an angle to follow the setback of the boundaries. The block also had 10m of fall (front to back) with a great deal of wasted space under the subfloor. This was designed to incorporate the stunning new bathroom/laundry and second living space.

With dramatic luxury at every turn, this well-designed bathroom and ensuite is converting
us to the dark side!

Whether you have a stylish new bathroom or want to keep your existing bathroom looking like new, the secret is EnduroShield

Tile and grout is porous and as a result absorb mineral deposits, soap scum, body fats and grime making the surface very difficult to clean. Overtime it can discolour and look unsightly.

EnduroShield is an invisible, non-stick coating that reduces cleaning time by up to 90%. Application is a simple process of spraying the liquid coating onto a clean surface to provide a protective bond.

EnduroShield makes cleaning a breeze – all that is needed is a gentle wipe over with a microfibre cloth and a mild detergent. The use of harsh chemicals is eliminated. Due to the reduction in cleaning, you use less water, so the benefit to the environment is cumulative and ongoing. It also keeps tiles and grout cleaner for longer in between cleans.

Perfect for shower tiles, bathroom wall and floor tiles, grout lines, porcelain or china basins, toilets and baths, kitchen floors and tiled splashbacks. EnduroShield can be applied to both new and existing surfaces. Once EnduroShield is applied, it will last beyond 3 years and there is no need for any revitalizer products during that 3 year period.

EnduroShield Tile and Grout protection is available as a DIY kit from leading hardware stores, or direct from our website. A 125ml DIY kit will cover 6 square-metres.

Creating depth and eliminating dead space via exceptional design were among the main goals for this bathroom project

“The homeowners had grown tired of their grungy old ensuite, its outdated colours and impractical nature, so they requested a bathroom space that is modern, luxurious and functional, which also complements the rest of the home. With this in mind, light, large-format tiles were chosen for the majority of the ensuite to create the illusion of space, while darker feature tiles were placed in the shower area to create an element of interest. Black tapware and accessories were chosen to increase the ensuite’s aesthetic appeal, and the space was designed carefully to accommodate a large shower, wall-hung vanity and plenty of storage. An illusion of depth was created by installing the new larger window on the outer leaf of the exterior wall. The single black-frame panel is simple yet adds a touch of elegance to the space and can be opened for air flow. A walk-in robe was also built next to the ensuite as a final touch, to maximise the previously unused space.”

“The clients knew exactly what they wanted to achieve with the restyling of their bathroom and ensuite. It was up to us to realise that vision and turn it into a reality.

“The brief was to stay within the original footprint of the rooms, so space was at a premium and all design considerations needed to revolve around breathing a fresh, contemporary, and especially spacious feel to the finished products. We were also tasked with creating high-quality bathrooms consistent with the character of the house using sound but middle-of-the-range products and fittings.

The results speak for themselves: the pale palette of the walls and streamlined fixtures create a clean, spacious look, while opulent floor tiles evoke a touch of oriental bathhouse luxury. The modular mirrors, which reach to the corners, lend an added impression of space and a focal point around which the whole design revolves.”

Our friends at Beaumont Tiles share what they have identified to be the top tile design trends for 2017, to inspire your next home makeover

Beaumont Tiles Communications & Design Specialist Christie Wood says that “as variations in tiles abound in terms of shapes, sizes, forms and colours – it’s not necessarily a type of tile that’s dominating trends, it’s how they are put together and the ambiance and emotion they create.”

Intrigued by this, we asked Christie for a few examples of such trends. Here’s what she shared with us:

Earth

Tile trends Earth - Beaumont Tiles

“This trend may be designed by man but has the earth very much at its heart. It’s a return to nature, the original masterpiece, where you surround yourself with the art of the ages. The stone look is very big in this trend and using natural tones that actually bring the outdoors inside.”

Raw

Tile trends Raw - Beaumont Tiles

“We’re moving from the industrial trend into a rawer, unconventional ambience where imperfection (often hidden or disguised) is being brought to the fore. Raw is about items that are found or unearthed and been naturally affected over time, they have character and age. For example you may be renovating a home and come across a beautiful fireplace – it’s about stripping  it back to what it once was, and celebrating the beauty of it.”

Formation

Tile Trends Formations - Beaumont Tiles

“Formation is the materialisation of a concept into a design. It’s where surfaces are shaped, moulded and fashioned with the eye of the designer. They are laid out to capture light, shade or to create a transition to carry the eye. Each piece has its own contour or shape to create pattern with a myriad of applications.”

Monochrome
monochrome

“Black and white makes a classic entrance but its extrovert temperament runs stripes all over the rest. Shades of grey soften the hard edges, and metallic embellishments are the finale to completing the luxurious look. The new monochrome encompasses all shades of grey too. Monochrome is a confident contrast that people feel good and comfortable about.”

Burst

burst 1

“Don’t hold back; let it burst out in colourful and contrasting energy! Like a curator’s enthusiasm for exquisite pieces, surround yourself with joyful style choices. Multiple textures, colours, and materials are combined in seemingly random composition to make a room pop. Burst is all about splashes of the eccentric and idiosyncratic to create positive and vibrant spaces that ooze personality.”
