A refined lap pool and spa nook designed for fitness, family time and effortless entertaining

Stretching confidently along the length of the property, this striking lap pool is a masterclass in contemporary restraint. Designed by the clients in collaboration with their architect as part of a knock-down-rebuild, the pool was conceived as an extension of the home itself — a space to move, unwind and gather, all within a clean, modern framework.

The brief called for a pool that could keep pace with a busy family lifestyle while offering moments of calm at the end of the day. Jade Swimming Pools delivered a sleek concrete and reinforced steel structure measuring an impressive 17.7m in length, anchored by a spa nook and swim-out zone at one end. Whether used for early-morning laps, children’s play or relaxed evenings with friends, the pool adapts effortlessly to each moment.

Jade Swimming Pools

A defining feature of the project is the integral retaining wall that runs the full length of the pool. Rising 1.5m high, this 17m feature wall not only resolves the site’s slight slope, but also creates a strong architectural edge, enhancing the sense of linear flow. Fully tiled in Ezarri Iris Mix Diamond mosaic tiles, the interior finish delivers the crisp white-and-blue palette the clients envisioned, shimmering beautifully under both natural light and evening illumination.

Despite a challenging construction period marked by an unusually wet season and clay conditions, the Jade Pools team navigated the site complexities with precision. Additional formwork and excavation management ensured the structure remained sound, allowing the project to progress without compromising the final result. The outcome is a pool that feels calm, balanced and deeply considered — a functional asset that elevates everyday living.

Completing the experience, the spa nook is fitted with eight Venturi jets, transforming the swim-out area into a dedicated relaxation zone. Advanced filtration, mineral sanitisation and energy-efficient heating systems ensure the pool is as practical as it is beautiful, allowing the family to maximise their time at home, together.

A refined pool and spa retreat that embraces bushland beauty

Set against a backdrop of serene bushland, this bespoke pool and spa project by Jade Pools achieves a flawless harmony between natural surrounds and elevated design. Built in conjunction with a custom home, this water-focused escape exemplifies seamless collaboration, expert engineering, and a client-first approach — all while delivering everyday luxury for modern living.

A vision realised, from the ground up

What began as a concept rendered in 3D evolved into a sophisticated outdoor retreat, meticulously constructed across a steep and challenging block. With limited access via a rear fire trail, the project required careful planning and precision execution. Work commenced in stages — first paused to allow for the home’s construction, then resumed in close coordination with the builder to ensure every element aligned with the overall architectural vision.

Jade Pools worked closely with the homeowner and custom home builder at every phase, adapting to the site’s complexities while remaining faithful to the client’s aesthetic goals and high standards. The result? A classic 8m x 4m pool with balance tank, a fully tiled raised spa, and sweeping views that blur the line between luxury and landscape.

Jade Pools

Sophistication in every detail

The pool and spa offer a cohesive design language, unified by Artisan tiles that were specifically selected to echo the tones of the surrounding bushland. These tiles fully clad the spa — inside and out — and line the waterline and catch tank wall of the pool, adding rich visual continuity. Travertine tiles complete the picture, used throughout the walkway and coping for a timeless finish underfoot.

Inside the pool, the brilliant Jewels4Pools interior finish catches the sunlight by day and shimmers under the glow of EVO Max multi lights and EVO LV niche lights after dusk, transforming the space into a glowing centrepiece.

Built for comfort, designed for ease

Though classically styled, this pool system is packed with modern innovation. Heating is handled by a dual system: an Oasis heat pump and Pentair MasterTemp gas heater, ensuring the spa stays ready and the pool swimmable year-round. A Naked Freshwater system with pH controller offers a gentle, low-chemical water experience, while automated features like the Water Witch auto leveller and Dolphin S400 robotic cleaner make day-to-day care refreshingly simple.

The spa itself is equally high-performing, fitted with a Spa King 7amp blower and Noria 1.5hp pump feeding eight venturi jets for an indulgent hydrotherapy experience.

A custom-built plant room neatly houses all filtration and system elements, including the Sunlover Oasis SF32in filter with glass media and a powerful Sunlover P490 2hp pump, keeping functionality as clean as the design.

A collaborative success

This project is a true testament to collaborative craft. From steep-site logistics to the exacting aesthetic requirements of the owners, Jade Pools worked hand-in-hand with all stakeholders to deliver a poolscape that ticks every box — visually, functionally and emotionally. It’s more than just a pool and spa. It’s a tranquil escape, nestled into nature.

A modern pool with spa in Baulkham Hills

Nestled in the rolling hills of Kenthurst, this stunning new pool and spa, designed and constructed by Jade Swimming Pools, offers a luxurious escape for a young, active family. Combining modern design with the natural slope of the land, this outdoor haven not only enhances the property’s aesthetics, but provides a private retreat for recreation and entertainment.

Located on a sloping block, this 11m x 5m pool and accompanying 4sqm spa are perfectly positioned at the lower level of the property, ensuring a seamless integration into the surrounding landscape. The pool was designed by Matthew Daniel of Jade Pools, who worked closely with the clients to ensure the finished product complemented the space while maximising its views.

Jade Pools

“We wanted to make sure that the pool was functional, but also that it took full advantage of the property’s amazing outlook. We used the existing retaining walls and extended paving to create easy access, blending everything together to form a beautiful, practical design,” explains Matthew.

Jade Pools

The pool’s clean, rectangular shape features a smooth, natural interior finish in Jewels4Pools’ Pearl, which contrasts beautifully with the Silver Travertine paving and coping. The integrated Oasis Smart Aquatics Automation system allows the owners to control everything from lighting to pool chemistry at the touch of a button, making maintenance simple and convenient.

A seamless design with a family focus

For the owners, the primary aim was to create a space where the entire family could gather, entertain and relax. As repeat clients of Jade Pools, they were clear about their vision from the outset: a family-friendly space that complemented the surrounding landscape and provided a tranquil retreat.

The pool includes a number of standout features that add to its appeal. The 2m x 2m spa offers a relaxing spot to unwind, while the Sunbather Downunder pool blanket, housed in a purpose-built tank, provides thermal protection for the pool throughout the year.

Jade Pools

A design that works in harmony

The completed project is a testament to good design principles, balancing function, aesthetics and budget. The design maximises the site’s natural beauty while delivering a highly functional space that works for the family’s lifestyle. The pool’s modern look fits perfectly with the natural surroundings, and the spa’s addition ensures a place for quiet relaxation and socialising.

“We always take into account how the design will be used and ensure that everything serves a functional purpose. For this project, creating that connection with the surrounding environment was a priority, as was providing a space that would work for the clients and their young family,” says Matthew.

Privacy, position and family entertainment were all considerations for the creation of this piece of paradise on Sydney’s Northern Beaches.

With a busy work schedule, this Northern Beaches client wanted nothing more than to enjoy their precious free time with the family at home — and it doesn’t get much better in Sydney than overlooking the picturesque and iconic Palm Beach.

For their 5.6m-long pool, a rectangular modern design with a glass wall, the homeowner provided their own plans, which were then fine-tuned by Jade Swimming Pools for construction. “The pool was designed by the client in conjunction with his builder, with specific requirements for position, privacy and entertainment, while also taking advantage of the views,” explains John Daniel of Jade Swimming Pools.

Northern Beaches’ sites are notoriously steep and difficult to access and build on, and unfortunately this one was no exception. Due to the site’s difficult position on top of a hill and problematic access, machinery and large equipment had to be craned onto site by the builder. Other challenges included inclement weather during construction, the building works on site, and the limited access up to the block from the street.

Jade Swimming Pools

“We worked in conjunction with the builder on site and although we faced difficult site conditions, we achieved a beautiful pool and surrounds on completion,” says John. The resulting creation is fully tiled in Ezarri tiles, with a handcrafted 9m-long stone-clad feature wall, in addition to a glass wall to the external side of the pool.

At Jade Swimming Pools, providing clients with their vision is a key ingredient to the company’s many years of success. Through in-depth consultations using 3D imaging, the team visually walk clients through their dream pool area before it is even built, ensuring the finished product remains true to its surroundings and the client’s needs.

John and Helen Daniel started Jade Swimming Pools and their son Matthew is now part of the team. The company currently builds between 50 and 60 pools a year due to a high volume over the past 12 months. Specific areas of construction range from the lower Blue Mountains to the Eastern Suburbs, Northern Suburbs, Hawkesbury, Western Suburbs and Inner West.

Jade specialises in family pools by creating the dream and bringing it to life, regardless of site difficulty, limited access, varying terrains or other site conditions. “After contract signing, we look at the quickest option for arranging approvals and plans (unless already approved, which occurs in some instances),” explains the Jade Pools team.

“Our aim is to start the excavation process within one to two weeks of approvals and after the excavation, steel work, plumbing and concreting, the shell sits for up to four weeks for curing before the cosmetic finishes to the pool commence. During the cosmetic stage, we install filtration and heating (if specified) and the fencing is then installed approved prior to the final finish being applied to the interior. In some instances, the clients will be building a new home and the pool is put on hold while the house is constructed. Then we return to finish the pool after the house is handed over.”

Jade Swimming Pools is a member of SPASA (NSW and ACT), the Housing Industry Association of NSW and the Master Builders Association of NSW.

Optimising a sloping site creates a designated pool and spa area, a haven of tranquillity in a busy Sydney suburb.

Juggling the demands of a busy work schedule, these clients wanted to enjoy their free time with family at home in Gladesville, on Sydney’s lower north shore, and a dedicated pool and spa area on their sloping block was the answer.

Jade Swimming Pools

Designed by the clients in conjunction with their architect, the modern rectangular pool and spa area was to take advantage of and lead up to the top part of the backyard. An oasis for recreation and entertainment, this designated space also incorporates a retaining wall, stairs and extended paving. “The pool has been constructed to be a feature of the raised area at the rear of the site and become another entertainment spot in the backyard,” explains Jade Swimming Pools, who built the 8m-long pool and 3m x 2m spa.

Crisp-white limestone paving and coping features to the pool and surrounds, creating a light, bright and cool appearance. “Our clients also wanted a finish to replicate a white and blue theme, and this was achieved through the finishes to the interior and exterior of the pool and spa,” says Jade.

Jade Swimming Pools

As is often the case with sloping blocks, site access was an issue. Machinery entered through a neighbouring property, with mini machines used to remove spoils.

This sophisticated project is yet another example of Jade Swimming Pools’ ability to provide clients with their vision — a key ingredient to the company’s many years of success. Through in depth consultations using 3D imaging, the team visually walks clients through their dream pool area before it is even built, ensuring the finished product remains true to its surroundings and the client’s needs. This approach has seen Jade Swimming Pools win several SPASA and Master Builders Association awards over the years at metropolitan, state and national levels, including an incredible 11 accolades in 2018 at the SPASA NSW and ACT Awards.

At the 2023 SPASA NSW and ACT Awards for Excellence, Jade was a national finalist and NSW gold winner in the Courtyard or Small Pool over $80,000 category, and highly commended NSW for Inground Concrete Spa. At the 2022 SPASA NSW and ACT Awards for Excellence, Jade received the National Finalist Award for Residential Water Feature, the gold award for Residential Water Feature, and received Highly Commended awards for both Concrete Pools up to $60,000 and Residential Lighting Feature.

John and Helen Daniel started Jade Swimming Pools and their son Matthew is now part of the team. The company currently builds between 30 and 40 pools a year. Specific areas of construction range from the lower Blue Mountains to Sydney’s eastern suburbs, northern suburbs, Hawkesbury, western suburbs and inner west.

This modern pool is an oasis in the middle
of the bush

Designed by Jade Pools in conjunction with the owners, this pool emerges like a tropical oasis out of the bush. The featured pool takes full advantage of the sloping backyard with a raised spa spilling into the pool, and a spillway over the pool flowing into a catch tank, acting as a natural waterfall.

The pool was built into the slope, appearing to be elevated from the ground. Dark-timber decking lines the perimeter of the pool and provides enough space for entertaining as well as relaxing. A small cabana is located at the rear, next to the raised spa, adding a touch of luxury.

Built by Jade Swimming Pools, this sleek and modern design features a Polaris 280 pool cleaner, Thermo solar heating panels and a Davey CC28 sand filter, as well as a Davey Silensor pump for both the pool and spa. The EasyTouch Pool and Spa Control System allows the owners to enjoy the pool without having to worry about any complex pool technology.

=QUOTE=The fully tiled pool and spa interiors, highlighted by the Ocean Blue Ezarri tiles, add that pop of colour to the backyard that consists predominantly of nature’s greenery and the brown of the timber decking. This truly calming and expertly designed pool incorporates all the features a pool needs for enjoyment and entertaining.

Jade Swimming Pools has been around since 1975 and builds between 50 and 60 pools a year, specialising in well-designed family-style pools. A member of SPASA (Swimming Pool and Spa Alliance), MBA (Master Builders Association) and HIA (Housing Industry Association), Jade Pools has won several awards over the years.

Most recently Jade Swimming Pools won silver for Best Residential Concrete Pools — over $100,000, silver for Best Lap Pool, and bronze for Best Renovations up to $25,000 at the 2016 SPASA Australia awards.
