Such considerations were key to designer Beau Small’s inclusion of Staron Solid Surfaces throughout this family kitchen. Having previously used the non-porous, durable, hygienic, UV-stable, easily-repairable surface in commercial projects and shop fitouts, it seemed the obvious choice for creating not only the countertop, but also the splashback and integrated sink in this residential installation.

The result is clean and minimalist, with warmth retained thanks to the subtle veining of the Supreme Ocean View colour selection (from the vast Staron colour range), and the complementary spotted gum veneer panelling and cabinetry. Additional two-pack polyurethane cabinets and drawers with integrated handles and a bold matching bulkhead help to frame the space, with high-quality appliances and a brass mixer incorporated to add functionality and interest.

Creating a slightly wider hallway with set back nooks gave the perfect foundation to design a standout feature in an area of the home that can often be overlooked during a renovation.

Very experienced with the design versatility and benefits of Solid Surface, Staron Bright White was the product of choice for both the hallway linen cupboards and home office desk.

Mario Romano Walls in Lake design was selected for the 6 cupboard doors, routed directly into Staron Solid Surface and clad to MR MDF decorative board. This not only cleverly concealed the hallway cupboards but, in the process, created a textured artwork that looks stunning and feels amazing!

With white being the colour of choice for the home office desk, the need for a product that is easy to maintain while also comfortable to work at meant that Staron was again well suited to this application. A mitered front edge of both bench and drawer gives a streamlined appearance to the desktop, with opening access incorporated under the front panels. The design detail gives the visual of decorative feature panels to the desk.

Selecting 50mm thick timber for shelving and a thinner 20mm timber framed each individual section, jutting out from the nooks for added impact. The warmth of the timber complements the Bright White Staron Solid Surface giving the space a welcoming feel. The hallway journey is forever changing with light and shadows constantly throughout the day and evening – and the Mario Romano design captures this perfectly.

The clients — a family of four with two teenage children — wanted a clutter-free, low-maintenance interior with minimalist, natural-coloured materials and colour scheme. Designed by Alec Pappas Architects, this new house located in Kyle Bay, south of Sydney, is designed to take in water views. The clients wanted a minimalist, contemporary home that wouldn’t date and that would complement the streetscape with other modern homes nearby.
The client has a close working relationship with FORM-RITE Co, which suggested the use of Dekton®.

Kitchen
The kitchen is used by the family during the week and for entertaining on the weekends (including 60 people for Christmas). The 3-metre-long island, clad in Dekton® Aura15, is the showpiece of the kitchen and a place for family and friends to comfortably congregate around.
Inspired by Calacatta and Carrara marble, Dekton® Aura15 provides timeless colour and style, with soft winding veining to complement the concrete-slab floor and timber-veneer joinery. Even with so many people using the benchtop, the surface is very easy to clean with liquids simply wiping away with no fear of stains.

Formal Dining Table 
The clients wanted a dining table that has a glass aesthetic but with the durability of Dekton®. They selected Dekton® Spectra, which is so black it looks like glass and reflects the sparkling objects on it.

Bathroom
Large-format slabs on the walls and floors of the bathroom create the streamlined, minimalist look the clients desired. The bathrooms have a natural colour scheme to create soft, sanctuary-like spaces, with Dekton® Blanc Concrete and Dekton® Keon providing neutral tones to complement the European oak joinery.
