A Beachside Dream Home in Scarborough

With land in sought-after locations becoming more and more unavailable, it’s time to think outside the box with unique solutions to grant you the tools to find your new beachside dream home in the location of your choosing.

McLachlan Homes’ recent project in the beautiful beachside suburb of Scarborough on Queensland’s Redcliffe Peninsula is one such example. The company jumped at the opportunity to create a stunning new project in place of an old, outdated home. This beachside dream house project was a game-changer.

With a beautiful location just one street away from the water, the choice to knock down and rebuild was the answer. Overseeing the demolition and subdivision of the block, McLachlan Homes’ award-winning design team envisioned a two-storey residence that would maximize the block’s true potential, creating a second beachside dream house.

“While it provided additional space, we also wanted to be mindful of the character of the local area and decided on Hamptons architecture and influences,” says Sally McLachlan of McLachlan Homes.

With an elegant street presence, this charming design used a stylish combination of materials to create a picture-perfect home that undoubtedly suited its surroundings.

Stepping through the entrance, you’re met with a generous 2700-high ceiling and a room flooded with natural light. The 300 by 600 rectified tiling underfoot entices visitors to explore the spaces within this beachside dream house.

“A great sense of careful planning and detail is echoed within an excellent blend of open, light living spaces perfectly positioned with a cool coastal color palette,” says Sally.

The stunning kitchen is fit for a master chef, with bespoke cabinetry, stone benchtops, feature pendant lighting, and stainless-steel appliances. Storage is abundant, with the inclusion of a walk-in pantry concealed behind a cavity slider.

The living and dining enjoy an open-plan lifestyle, maximizing crossflow ventilation and taking advantage of the dual outdoor zones. The under-roof alfresco overlooks the picturesque swimming pool and courtyard, which are bathed in natural light.

A separate media room ticks the box of a modern must-have, creating a more intimate space to enjoy movie nights with the family in this beachside dream house. The inclusion of a functional and stylish powder room allows the maximum amount of space to be devoted to living areas, while a generous laundry with a walk-in linen cupboard provides additional storage solutions.

The upper level, accessed via the stained kwila timber stairs, features four generous-sized bedrooms, kids’ retreat, a study, and a spacious main bathroom. The main bedroom is located at the front of the house and has plenty of space, with a large walk-in robe, balcony, and grand ensuite, making it a true beachside dream house.

“The ensuite is sure to impress, with feature entrance niches, Hollywood-style double vanity in Strata Matt Grey and feature lighting,” says Sally.

As a family-owned builder, McLachlan Homes takes pride in every project and ensures each home has its built-around lifestyle motto in mind. The attention to detail and 25-plus years’ experience offer comfort and trust to valued customers embarking on their new home journey, especially when their destination is a beachside dream house.
