Glass-fronted cupboards showcase beautiful personal trinkets and treasures, the lighting casting a soft glow over the crisp white tiles. The grey, white and black tone in the benchtops complements the all-white kitchen and the etched detailing in the handles.

In the kitchen’s design, a necessary structural pillar was cleverly hidden behind the glass cabinet so as not to impact the aesthetics or layout.

A butler’s pantry offers a secondary storage and preparation area, and also houses a double-stacked oven and second fridge. A custom spice rack in the butler’s entry is another clever storage solution.

Acting as a centrepiece for the rest of the apartment, this entertainer’s zone has expansive views of the Brisbane River and the cityscape beyond that form part of its charm. Included in a complete apartment renovation, the owners wanted to replace the small dated all-white kitchen with a space that spelled ‘wow’ and more accurately reflected their individual design aesthetic – as the final result can attest, the designer certainly delivered.

A detailed edge profile was added to the Tiffany Quartzite stone used on the large island, adding extra luxe to this sub-penthouse redesign. The beautiful stone also forms the benchtop around the sink opposite the island and continues up the wall to form the splashback. It was indeed an accomplishment hauling these stone slabs eight floors up and over the balcony!

New Age timber veneer with a horizontal grain wraps the island, adding warmth and depth to the scheme. The addtion of LED lighting along the bottom contributes ambient lighting while also making the solid structure appear to levitate in the space when lit.

Cabinet door and drawer fronts showcase a reeded profile finished in a rich brown two-pak paint, resulting in a solid and visually appealing texture. Brushed brass handles complement the look and add the final touch to this exotic masterpiece.

Sydney’s iconic bridge is mirrored in the kitchen splashback, allowing the owners to whip up a pasta sauce or scramble some eggs while taking in the city’s most famous vista. A single automated overhead cabinet door in bronze metallic is coupled with matt-black woodgrain laminate that spans the entire width of the back bench and fridge run to create clean lines and an air of sophistication.

A simple shadow line feature in the cabinetry highlights the porcelain benchtops, while large drawers and cupboards on the front of the island maximise storage space and optimise functionality.

As the kitchen forms part of an open-plan living area, the client wanted it to make a bold statement and reflect the styling and magnificence of the apartment. Defined by black cabinetry and punctuated with white Dekton benchtops and flourishes of art on the walls, the design well and truly accomplishes everything set out in the brief.

It was also essential to keep within the existing parameters of the previous kitchen (a white, high-gloss polyurethane-filled space with limited storage and devoid of any ‘wow’ factor) while achieving the highest visual impact. Brimming with personality and overflowing with storage space, this kitchen – much like the Harbour Bridge outside – is a sight to behold.

The introduction of a striking Lamicolor feature breakfast bar effectively splits the room into two distinct zones: one dedicated to cooking and cleaning, the other for dining and entertaining.

This clever division not only enhances practicality but also creates the illusion of a larger space. Gone are the days of the outdated white-gloss laminate L-shape kitchen with cream engineered stone benchtops. The laundry, which once encroached on precious space, has found a new home. The kitchen’s black and timber cabinetry, complemented by concrete-look benchtops, exudes a modern and edgy vibe.

The dark, moody colour palette offers a striking contrast that instantly elevates the space. Dezign Kitchens listened closely to the client’s desires, reimagining the kitchen’s shape and colour scheme. The result is a sleek, highly functional and visually captivating space. To address the challenge of the narrow room, smart storage solutions were integrated without compromising the feeling of openness.

One unique feature is the built-in Miele wine fridge tucked under the feature bench area, offering easy access to refreshments for guests without encroaching on the cooking section.

By consolidating tall cabinets on one wall, the design maximises space for a lift-up cabinet and feature shelves on the opposite side. The BORA downdraft cooktop further enhances the kitchen’s aesthetic and functionality by eliminating the need for a bulky rangehood.

They were uncertain how to get the most out of the tricky angular kitchen space in a way that would create more storage and functionality and add to the home’s aesthetic appeal. The Dezign Kitchens team got to work, creating a kitchen that expertly blends the past and the present through a considered fusion of modern design and period features.

A complete redesign of the space was required, but it was well worth it. The homeowners were adamant they did not want the room overloaded with cabinets, but they did require plentiful storage. Clean, contemporary cabinetry was chosen to meet the brief. While they do not overwhelm, innovative design concepts, such as the lift-up corner cabinet appliance pantry, have provided much-needed storage and functionality while exuding an air of understated sophistication.

The striking Sensa stone benchtops command attention, beautifully juxtaposing the kitchen’s otherwise pared-back palette. A minimalist Pitt gas cooktop was a clever choice for this space, adding an element of modernity without detracting from the showstopping stone’s aesthetic impact. A Fisher & Paykel Integrated CoolDrawer was included in the kitchen, and the main fridge was moved to the pantry area. This helped keep tall cabinet lines to a minimum while not compromising on functionality.

While the positioning and size of the windows were challenging to navigate, the team focused on maximising the base cabinets’ storage capacity to keep wall cabinets to a minimum. This meant they did not detract from the room’s stunningly high ceilings. This kitchen is now an impressive fusion of old and new; a perfect balance for this charming heritage dwelling.

With a dream to provide their daughter Isabella, who relies on a wheelchair, with a space where she could explore her culinary passions independently, the family sought the expertise of Kenwood Kitchens.

Previous Kitchen Setup: Libby and her family initially grappled with a kitchen space devoid of cabinetry and proper amenities. Their makeshift setup relied on the boxes of their appliances and a camp table for meal preparations.

Owner’s Brief: Amidst the construction of their dream home, the family envisioned a kitchen that transcended the ordinary – one that embraced Isabella’s needs for wheelchair accessibility while fostering her independence. Kenwood Kitchens, in a collaborative effort, orchestrated a comprehensive solution:

• Design: Vince McGroarty contributed a bespoke kitchen design.
• Project Management: Sam Filardi oversaw project management.
• Donations: Various suppliers generously donated materials and services, including OMEGA Appliances, YDL Stone, Polytec, Artline Kitchens, Blum, and P & J Installations.

The plumbing and electrical aspects were sourced independently by the client.

Staron Solid Surfaces, primarily in the very popular Bologna Terrazzo option, appears heavily throughout this display kitchen.

Chosen for their versatility, Staron Solid Surfaces were the perfect choice for this kitchen that’s full of seamless curves. Manufactured from refined bauxite, a safe silica-free mineral, and blended with pure acrylic resin, this surface is known for being high-performing. Thanks to its non-porous nature, Staron is both stain-resistant and easy to clean – perfect for frequently used areas of the kitchen.

The Bologna Terrazzo is eye-catching on the multi-purpose benchtop, beautifully complementing the kitchen’s deep burnt ochre and dusty pink hues as well as the Tasmanian oak timber that appears throughout. This labour-intensive benchtop was carefully crafted by the SpaceCraft Joinery workshop team to create an area that comfortably seats four. This gorgeous surface also appears throughout the kitchen in the form of open shelving and custom-made plant pots.

That’s right, Staron Solid Surfaces are so versatile they can be used to create the extraordinary. This kitchen highlights the fact that good things can come in small packages, and that working with a compact kitchen space does not mean you must compromise on style.
