National Landscape of the Year Awards celebrate design and construction excellence

For 25 years, Outdoor Design has been a committed advocate of innovative Australian residential landscape design and a champion of construction excellence. Initially, through the magazine; in later years, with the support of our digital network. After more than two decades supporting Australian landscapers, Outdoor Design launched the Landscape of the Year Awards — and in this edition we showcase the entrants for 2025.

The national Landscape of the Year Awards both acknowledge and celebrate the finest residential gardens and outdoor projects from around the country, along with the skilled landscape architects, designers and contractors behind them. The projects entered into this year’s awards cover the gamut, from luxury waterfront resort-style retreats and refined hinterland landscapes to contemporary courtyards in urban settings, plant-filled suburban gardens and Bali-inspired poolscapes.

Just as the awards wouldn’t be possible without Australia’s vibrant landscaping scene, thanks must also go to our generous sponsors, each integrally involved in the creation of exceptional residential gardens, poolscapes and outdoor living projects of every conceivable size and style — and right around Australia. We extend our gratitude to our Gold Sponsor Davey Water Products, and our Silver Sponsors, Cotswold Furniture and Shapescaper, for making this year’s awards a reality.

On the following links we present the entrants in the Landscape of the Year Awards 2025. In the next edition of Outdoor Design we will publish the winners.

John Storch
A Total Concept

Landscape architect John Storch is the founder of A Total Concept, a well-regarded design and management practice that specialises in the integration of swimming pools, gardens and cabanas, and has been designing outdoor spaces for more than 35 years. He is a firm believer in creating holistic spaces that flow seamlessly with all other elements of the landscape and home, and it is this design philosophy from which the name A Total Concept stems. John has created many award-winning outdoor projects, some individually and others collectively with his team of talented landscape architects and pool designers. He is passionate about design in all its forms and always pays close attention to the specific details of each project and how the different aspects combine to create a cohesive whole that integrates the home, pool and landscape.
