One of the standout features of this family bathroom transformation is the bespoke vanity, expertly crafted to be a showstopper. Rather than a traditional vanity, it resembles a beautiful piece of furniture, making it the focal point of the room. To maintain the modern yet traditional aesthetic, classic lighting fixtures with an antique brass finish were incorporated, adding a touch
of timeless charm.

The tapware, all from Faucet Strommen in Discovery Bronze, complements the earthy tones of the space, resembling weathered bronze. The design team eliminated the nib wall in the shower to give the bathroom a more open and spacious feel, with the centrepiece being a stunning freestanding stone bath positioned beneath a beautiful arched window.

To tie everything together, a monochrome palette with Carrara marble hexagon tiles was employed, creating a sense of unity and sophistication. A marble capping tile was added to beautifully finish off the porcelain tiles, completing the luxurious look. The final touch included L&M Home Decor accents, adding a layer of refinement and functionality to the space. This bathroom renovation project by Yeomans Design & Build has truly created a harmonious fusion of traditional and contemporary design, resulting in a timeless and inviting family retreat.

Today, the ensuite is chic, modern and refreshed. To foster a luxe hotel-like atmosphere, designer Darren James created light wells above the bathtub, shower bay and separate toilet. The adjoining walk-in robe dictated the size of the ensuite, while the layout was determined by budget. To keep costs under control, the existing waste locations were maintained. This meant the placement of the bathtub, toilet and vanity were predetermined.

The bespoke vanity features a Maximum Fior Di Bosco porcelain top. Replicating the appearance of natural stone, it offers the durability of porcelain and looks fantastic when combined with the Brown Tossini Elm single-drawer double vanity below. Brown Tossini Elm from Egger was an ideal choice as it provides an elegant and natural wood grain structure with pearlescent base that lends a high-end finish to the vanity. Large mirrored shaving cabinets mingle with wall-mounted tapware to provide a sense of scale and height.

By utilising outdoor-grade substrates, the design brings the Brown Tossini Elm down the entry walls to create a link between the walk-through robe and the ensuite, creating cohesion and cementing the bespoke interior feel.

From its full sheets of laminated wall cladding and bespoke vanity, to the warm LED lighting and frameless fluted glass shower screens, this ensuite is as functional as it is fetching.

The original style was very dated, with 1970s laminate and sharp angles throughout. It needed a total refresh to feel more modern, with the homeowner requesting minimal lines and a more luxurious feel to their bathroom renovation.

The first step was to consider the floor plan, so the first change was to open up the space. The corner tub was removed and the rule of thirds was used to create specific zones in the bathroom for a cohesive feel. More modern curves were employed throughout, spanning the freestanding tub and dual mirrors above the sinks. The large and more neutral tiles make the bathroom feel expansive while the glass walls of the spacious shower create space and add that extra touch of luxury. A Yeomans bathroom renovation transformation, the team was tasked with updating this previously cramped and dark bathroom to create a bright and functional space that felt more luxurious. Aesthetically, the homeowners wanted to bring in natural light and add a colourful feature wall with larger components. Functionally, they requested that the layout be improved, along with a more seamless entrance than the conventional door.

A skylight and sliding door were added to allow in natural light and make the bathroom entry more welcoming. LED downlights throughout provide a soft and gentle illuminating glow, bouncing off the bright white walls. Warm earthy tones bring character to the space, with a beautiful pink-tiled feature wall reflecting in the unique blush pink basin. Tiger bronze tapware and shower heads amplify the sense of warmth and add a bold contrast against the cool white tones.

The large freestanding bath provides that all-important luxurious feel, while the walk-in shower behind the glass panel lets the room breathe and keeps the space feeling open. The result is a bathroom that has an abundance of natural light, is open and refreshing while offering a welcoming yet decadent feel.

The owners wanted a fresh, modern, and functional bathroom; a renovation which presented a variety of challenges. To make sure the technically challenging installation stood the test of time while meeting the budget and quality expectations of the client, tiler Bryce Ireland contacted LATICRETE Representatives in Victoria, Corey Downes and Chris Stenhouse to discuss the situation.

Offering a quality installation solution that met and exceeded his customers’ expectations was crucial to Bryce. After a free on-site consultation, the LATICRETE representatives were able to tailor a full installation solution to suit both the tiler and the client’s needs.

Achieving a LATICRETE 15-year system warranty, the teams were confident in the LATICRETE system. Beginning the installation, the tiling team screeded the shower base with 3701 Fortified Mortar Bed. The existing floors laid in the 1930s were an uneven concrete slab, so team relied on LATICRETE LEVEL to provide a perfectly flat floor. With time being a key factor, the team used the easily workable LATAPOXY® Moisture Shield, HYDRO BAN® and 335 Rapid, allowing for a quick and painless installation. The 335 Rapid was used to adhere the 300mm x 600mm Tundra Grey floor and wall tiles, while SPECTRALOCK PRO Premium Grout (in Stirling Silver) provided a beautiful finish.

STONETECH® Bulletproof sealer was used to provide maximum protection on the natural stone against oil and water-based stains, while preserving the stones natural appearance. The LATICRETE Representatives were both available throughout the entire installation, providing technical support throughout the project both on-site and over the phone whenever their expertise was required.

Known for its surf beaches and stunning scenery, Torquay is home to this masterfully extended abode. Built by Smith & Sons Geelong, the extension consists of an office, master bedroom, walk-in robe and ensuite. Additionally, the home received a remodelled kitchen, bathroom and entry/foyer. A new second-storey alfresco barbecue area, modernised living zones and a revamped exterior round out the work completed. A stunning modern coastal home renovation by the Smith & Sons team.

A key component of the brief was to transform the dated external aesthetic of the home by implementing classic coastal features. The combination of Cypress pine shiplap and Linea weatherboards on the front facade, for example, exudes a welcoming and modern coastal vibe. The couple that own the home requested a larger master suit that included an office space, which was achieved by extending out over the existing garage.

The outdoor entertaining area on the upper level was also crucial to the success of the project,” says Mark Stewart, managing director at Smith & Sons Geelong. “The request was for the space to stay in close proximity to the kitchen while feeling integrated with the backyard.” Featuring Bondor insulated roof panels, the charming spot is given direct access to the yard via a convenient staircase. Speaking of stairs, the internal staircase was remodelled to include new balustrading as it snakes its way from the renovated entry and up through the modernised family areas.

Designed by Colin Armstrong Design to promote comfortable and stylish coastal living, the interior of the home (completed by Kylie Sargent Interior Design & Building Consultancy) captures the atmosphere of the serene seaside locale. All the original windows have been replaced with double glazing, while the new kitchen is much more usable than it once was thanks to ample benchspace and storage. Light and bright, the kitchen features the warm tones of wood combined with white surfaces (like the Polytec Classic White matt Calacatta benchtops and oak cabinetry) and subtle black accents. This palette of wood, white and black continues in the bathroom, creating a cohesive home that flows — like the rolling of a wave — seamlessly from one space to the next.

The homeowners worked closely with the experienced team at Geelong Tiles & Bathware when planning the space, and took ample time to create a unique, well-considered bathroom for their new family home.

From the very beginning, the homeowners were set on a spacious, aesthetically pleasing room that didn’t blow the budget, and they knew their choice in tiles would play an important role in the end result.

The striking tiles are the hero feature of this space, although the original tile selection was very different to the tiles ultimately used in the project. The original floor tiles the homeowners chose had been discontinued, which meant they needed to select a new tile. They couldn’t visit the Geelong Tiles & Bathware showroom due to COVID-19 restrictions, so they had to do the selection over FaceTime. It almost felt like fate in the end, because the terrazzo-look tile they re-selected took their bathroom to another level.

The homeowners opted for a simple colour and texture palette to accommodate for multiple styling opportunities. Although the space is predominantly black and white, the warm tones in the terrazzo allow for many seasonal styling changes. This, combined with the matt-black tapware, sleek joinery and the luxurious bath, has resulted in a truly breathtaking space.

One of the standout features in the main bathroom is the Concrete Nation basin, its dusty-pink hue complementing the Petti Bella matt pink tiles perfectly. This is further illuminated by the champagne tapware and bamboo handles, in which blush and bronze tones create an impeccable union. Arched shapes are trending so the mirror really helps to finish off this space in a contemporary way.

Bright and tropical vibes continue in the ensuite thanks to the impactful wallpaper. Palm leaves and bananas certainly pack a punch and scream vacation at home! This ensuite is fun and colourful, further complemented by the Concrete Nation basin which was fittingly chosen in a mint tone. The Arc basin also creates synergy with the curves in the bath.

Additionally, the terrazzo-look porcelain tiles add just enough interest to the floor, while still drawing the eye to the bright wallpaper. Throughout the house, tropical wallpaper lines the walls of some bedrooms and the powder room, continuing the resort-like theme.

No stone was left unturned in the construction of this beautiful home, which wraps around the courtyard pool. While the bathrooms are strikingly different, they both exude the same luxurious Palm Springs aesthetic.

The initial bathroom had a dated ‘70s style with blue floor tiles, a laminate vanity, a hob bath and a brass-framed shower. Just look how far this space has come.
