This renovation morphs a heavily used kitchen into a modern beauty, designed to better suit the homeowners’ ever-evolving lifestyle. It achieves this by introducing some much-needed storage, refined finishes and a more cohesive connection to the surrounding living area.
The previous layout had done an excellent job for many years, but it was time to hang up the old apron as its layout offered limited storage and lacked the organisation needed for modern living. The brief from the homeowners was to create a kitchen that would feel clean, contemporary and highly functional, while maintaining a calm, uncluttered aesthetic that complements the rest of the home.
A standout feature of the redesign is the concealed pantry, hidden behind full-height sliding doors. This clever storage solution allows small appliances and everyday items to be tucked away out of sight, maintaining a streamlined look across the main kitchen zone while still providing generous storage capacity.

Material choices play a key role in defining the space. Dark timber-look cabinetry is paired with crisp white joinery to create a sophisticated two-tone palette, while engineered stone benchtops and a textured, subway-style tiled splashback add depth and durability. The contrast between darker cabinetry and lighter surfaces creates visual interest while ensuring the kitchen remains bright and welcoming.
As with a lot of kitchen renovations, the designers need to somehow do a lot with a little. The nature of renovating means it’s hard to add more space, but with creative cabinetry, the builders were able to enhance the area’s functionality within the home’s footprint.
The result is a refined and timeless kitchen that prioritises organisation and practicality without sacrificing style. Through thoughtful planning, custom cabinetry and integrated storage solutions, the completed room feels spacious, efficient and perfectly suited to everyday living.
