To get you in the spirit, here are just a few of last year’s award-winners:
Winner of the KBQ & KBDi People’s Choice Award for bathroom design: Janine Izzo (Kitchens & Bathrooms SA)
This bathroom design captures the eye with a gorgeous round hanging mirror, while black matt fixtures convey an ultra-luxe feeling.
Winner of the KBQ & KBDi People’s Choice Award for kitchen design: Belinda Nadile (Minosa)
This kitchen design by Minosa aims to create a functional, open-plan space with simplistic detail and a natural, warm palette. Relocating this kitchen gave it an elevated bay view and creation of a simple, galley-style space: a design winner!
Winner of the KBDi Australian Certified Designer of the Year 2017: Darren James CKD Au (Darren James Interiors)
You can see the full inspirational design for this kitchen in Darren James’ Bangalow Residence photo gallery. We love the way that contrasting black and white combined with wooden accents add subtle flair to the kitchen.
Winner of the KBDi Australian Bathroom Designer of the Year 2017: Vanessa Cook (Smarter Bathrooms & Kitchens)
As part of the bespoke overhaul of a townhouse in the leafy Melbourne suburb of Elwood, these clients had their kitchen, pantry, bathroom and powder room overhauled with a gorgeous Scandinavian feel. A large shower area with seat and a furniture-like vanity completes the incredible picture.
Winner of the KBDi Australian Kitchen Designer of the Year 2017: Katia Slogrove (Germancraft Cabinets)
Katia Slogrove’s incredible Gold Coast kitchen epitomises OTT ultra-luxe with decadent golden finishes! Read more about it in our in-depth write up here.
Winner of the KBDi First Time Entrant Award 2017: Alexa Beer (Smarter Bathrooms & Kitchens)
Originally a boxed-in solid kitchen, this space is now light and bright with a harmonious design. Inspired by a handcrafted slab of Marri timber sourced from Western Australia by the client, the aesthetic draws heavily on notes of industrial style with elements of the home’s original build.
Winner of the KBDi Bathroom Designer of the Year WA 2017: Maggie Milligan
Specialising in Hamptons, French Provincial & Traditional style kitchens and bathrooms, as well as laundries, luxury tapware and accessories, Maggie Milligan’s design here is the perfect example of playfully contrasting black and white. We love the vanity top!
Winner of the KBDi Bathroom Designer of the Year SA 2017: Agatha Ozhylovski (Agatha O | House of Design)
When choosing an award recipient, the KBDi judges applauded Agatha’s confidence in a bold design and delivery of a well-appointed bathroom with timeless appeal. Matching above counter sinks add to the harmonious symmetry of the design.
Winner of the KBDi Large Kitchens Designer Award for SA 2017: Nathan Wundersitz (Space Craft Joinery)
While modernising a client’s functionally-outdated kitchen, Space Craft Joinery also updated the look with just a splash of gorgeous rich red. Timber struts help temper and balance the red while bringing warmth and colour, and what emerges is a kitchen design that truly manages to balance form with function.
Winner of the KBDi Medium Kitchens Designer Award for SA 2017: Sophie Doumbiotis (Alby Turner & Son)
Although this brilliantly white kitchen conveys a nonchalant elegance, the execution of such a stylish build was anything but. Overhead electronic cabinetry, creative storage solutions and a concealed butler’s pantry all help build the illusion. Read more in our project profile here.
If 2017’s designs are anything to go by, it will certainly be tough to pick a winner!
