A Voluminous Open Plan Living Space with Garden Views

The name “Lantern House,” which refers to a luminous oasis, alludes to the structure’s resemblance to a traditional Japanese “toro,” which can be made of stone, wood, or metal.

Despite being a masterpiece of its time, the Victorian terrace from 1876 was beginning to deteriorate by today’s standards. The interior layout was poky, out-of-date, and dark, and Timmins and Whyte architects worked diligently to remove it and bring it back to the pinnacle of design and craftsmanship.

Miglass Open Plan Living

As a result, an existing addition from the 1980s was removed and replaced with a new one that meets the requirement of creating a generous, voluminous, and open living space with a variety of garden views.

Throughout the project, Miglas windows were used to create a large, glass-fronted area that provides ample lighting and adheres to sustainable design principles. Through the installation of solar panels and the use of passive cooling methods, the house adhered to this philosophy.
