Rosanna Reno

Why Adrian and Emma Daly Love Their Reno

‘We lived in a house built in the 1960’s which our family was quickly outgrowing. Weathertex has allowed us to create a very spacious, contemporary and affordable look for our renovated home. We have also been pleased to learn more about its insulation property that make it a terrific, energy efficient material.’

Clifford Forever Home

Why Annie & Terry Clifford Love Their Reno

‘Our renovated home is the home of our dreams. We started with a shabby 1970s apartment and finished with a stunning classic yet modern masterpiece. We have bought and sold several homes and tackled a few renovations over the years but never to this extent and the result is beyond our expectations. It’s bright and airy, the finishes are exceptional thanks to our amazing architect and builder who made the process extremely stress free. As renovation experiences go we think we hit the jackpot in all respects!’

Pie in Skye Renovation That Works

Why Baz Walters Loves His Reno

‘This Reno is all about having no utilities costs and maximum security, great entertaining, and places around the house to relax. The insulation is upgraded to the thickest bars, the cooling/ heating system upgraded, the security systems (internal and external), are the best available. We also have our own locked gate into Darnley reserve walking tracks to keep fit!

We bought the house just 4 years ago as a renovators challenge, replaced windows, roofing , added entertainment area for our muso mates, and now we are extremely satisfied. Our utilities costs are completely covered by solar feed in tariff , the excess payments, covers the gas bill most of the year. Electricity is now free of cost as our new LGChem 19kW battery powers the house at night. – not just essential circuits , the whole house!! Gutters are covered in gutter- guard to save maintenance. This is retirement bliss for me, and the renovation has eased the stress of our home ownership in retirement years ahead. I’m a retired solar specialist practising what I have tried to preach.’

Hot Water

Why Brendon Loves His Reno

‘I love my new solarthart hot water system! Before i had it installed, my electricity meter was using power faster than you could drink coca-cola! And it was re-heating, all day long, every time you turned on the hot tap!

Now, my 265 litre capacity state of the art solarhart hot water unit, heats once a day at 12 noon, in line with my solar power roof, to utilise, my peak power input, just amazing, all this great technology…’

After

Kangaroo Valley Heritage Cottage

Why The Brewer Family Love Their Reno

‘We purchased a 100 year old heritage cottage that was in very poor state and undertook a major lift.

We loved that we managed to retain the original front cottage, at all the times being super careful to leave as much as possible of the original features. Those beautiful features are the essence of the home. We love how we improved ventilation in the bedrooms and natural light by adding extra matching period windows that we salvaged from the rear layer addition of the house that we had demolished. We love the French doors we added to have access to the wrap veranda and the natural light the bring into the rooms.

For the new rear extension used recycle bricks and black steel windows and love how compliment the soft heritage beauty without dominating.

We feel that the restoration really has shown her beauty, creating the perfect place that we call home.’

Before

After

Northern Beaches Makeover

Why The Eagars Love Their Reno

‘Our renovation transformed our dark aged 1940’s cottage into a comfortable modern living space flooded with fresh air and light. With a maturing family the addition of another level including second bathroom, study, and additional storage was much needed. We also used the opportunity to maximise an efficiency upgrade of all lighting, fans and appliances plus added solar panels and a hot water heat pump. The house now produces a surplus of energy 10 months of the year. Renovations are never easy, but we survived and couldn’t be happier with our new and improved energy efficient home.’

After

WANDI paradise

Why Clémence Erdtsieck Loves Her Reno

‘Since I live in this house in 2005 I had this project in my head to have a toilet in the master bedroom. I was able to make my dream come true. Each time I walk into my bedroom and bathroom, I feel like I am entering a 5 star hotel room.’

Marinus Home Kitchen Upgrade

Why Corne & Lezanne Marinus Love Their Reno

‘Our reno has created much needed storage space in the kitchen, while bringing it into the modern age, and also means a much more efficient use of the space available in the open plan area of the house. The pantry area allows us to keep all the appliances out, without the rest of the kitchen looking clustered, large bench tops allows for ample preparation space. The renovation has made cooking an even more enjoyable experience. An upgraded 6kW solar system has also meant we can now run our air conditioners all summer long.’

@Sunny.Coast.Changing.Decades

Why The The Guinea Family Love Their Reno

‘Seeking a life full of creating family memories pushed us to the Sunshine Coast. The fast paced and quickly rising home prices made it nearly impossible to find our dream home. It became apparent that we would have to renovate. I always dreamt of this opportunity even though I stressed just to find a good electrician to install a ceiling fan at our last house. Now we are almost a year into renovations and the interior is nearing completion (unless we add to our to do list). In the start of 2022, we will begin the exterior renovations.’

Before

Mahon’s Beach Home, Torquay Victoria

Why The Mahons Loves Their Reno

‘After 20 years, 3 kids, renters and a harsh coastal environment our Torquay beach home was tired and flat – We love our Reno because it has breathed new life and freshness back into our home as well as taking it to an all-new level of comfort, practicality and life-style! Today we have a gorgeously stylish kitchen, dining and upstairs living area where the family can relax together as well as a beautiful downstairs living area and study where you can escape it all. Also, the bathroom, en-suite and laundry make wet areas fun again!’

Buttsworth House Annandale

Why Susan and Gary Buttsworth Love Their Reno

‘The studio was the fourth and final stage for renovation of the property. Providing for extended family and guests. Access utilizes site topography with a minimum steps to enter from the garden. A sympathetic traditional design in relation to the heritage nature of our house.

The cladding used is striking in contrast by colour and pattern to the traditional rendered brickwork of the existing. This sets a new colour palette for our house. Different to the original dark gray monochrome colour scheme.’

Corbett/ Brady Home, Beachmere qld

Why G. Corbett Loves Their Reno

‘We have the ultimate recycled and renovated home. Firstly we moved our cute mid century
weatherboard onto our block , and from there rebuilt, replaced and painted every square inch all whilst my partner was undergoing 5 major surgeries.

With a lot of help from family and friends we completed the Reno and could move into our cheap and cheerful property so he could recuperate. We love our gorgeous house. It has been a labour of love and I have been able to put my personal stamp on every room. As an artist I have my own paintings, photographs on display. I tiled, painted , made the curtains and lounge covers and landscaped. We’re so proud.’

Before

After

The Philosphers House

Why Maala Parameswaran and Grant Findlay Love Their Reno

‘This house was always big enough for our needs, but it totally lacked engagement with the view beyond and the garden below. It sits over a big rock in the back yard, so we extended a huge covered living deck, with outdoor kitchen over the rock. The deck gives two ways of accessing down to the garden below, and plenty of options for where to sit according to the weather.

We wanted to use simple and honest materials which are good for the environment. The floors, doors and structure are all hardwood (blackbutt), and the cladding is all Weathertex 75mm Weathergroove. We really love the way that the natural materials make the house feel, especially as the light and the garden have now become so much part of our daily life.’

After

Ward Family Reno’s at Didcot QLD

Why Hazel and Stephen Ward Love Their Reno

‘We live in a tiny home on half acre in a town of several houses in a remote township called Didcot QLD.

Following our marriage and previous divorces, we had two homes to sell. This home is our first home together.

It is only one bedroom, so we needed to renovate this old little cottage. We made a verandah and an extra room/office. It was restumped, and weatherboards and windows replaced
The solar was part of the Reno so we can cheaply live there into our retirement and afford to go
travelling in our caravan.

We love our cosy tiny home and the solar power was a great addition to the renovations.
We were impressed that we could get a job done in this area… we are over the moon and hope to add more solar panels and possibly a hot water solar powered system later on.
We can now sit back and know that we are helping the environment with our energy efficienct home.’

Deayton Family Home Beaumont Hills

Why The Deayton Family Love Their Reno

‘When we bought the property it had heavy curtains, yellow cream walls & brown carpet. Rather gloomy! With a simple renovation involving moving a wall in the dining area to allow more space in the living area & adding a capping to the top very ordinary skirtings with blocks at each door way. A fresh coat coat of paint through out & new floor coverings. It is now light & bright with a peaceful & relaxed vibe. The outlook onto the pool from the parent’s retreat is pure relaxation at its finest.’

Gable Roof over Deck.

Why Janelle Monsma Loves Her Reno

‘I roofed the north facing deck to allow for all-year round use of this area. The roof also shades the northern side of the house lowering the temperature in summer and keeping and even temperature in winter. It also gave me more roof space for water collection to fill the tanks and solar panels to conserve and produce electricity which is sent back to the grid, lowering my electricity bill. The space looks down the street to the Clyde river and is magnificent on a summer evening to share with friends.’

Outdoor Reno’

Why Jim and Debra Love Their Reno

‘We built 17 years ago as first time builders, experiencing lots of wind and rain in our outdoor function area it just wasn’t working. Our Bathroom With a View

Why The Christiansen’s Love Their Reno

‘We purchased a 35 year home requiring a shift from the 80’s to 2021. Although the bones were always what attracted us to the home we decided in our 60’s to do a renovation.

The bathroom is our first major accomplishment, a complete gut and re-build. The view from the now picture window above the bath allows us to see into the tree-tops which for us is so heart warming and gives that wonderful feeling of being close to nature and provide light into this space which it lacked badly.’

Before

After

O’Neill Family Home, Brisbane

Why The O’Neill Family of Brisbane Love Their Reno

‘We moved into our 1950s stucco, brick home the day we left hospital after having our first child. Whilst we completed some minor renovations it took 18 years to realise our dream of a major extension to our small three bedroom, one bathroom home. The rear wall of our home was demolished to make way for a two-storey extension featuring a master suite and light filled, spacious, living, dining and wrap-around deck. The updated kitchen now overlooks our amazing open plan space and backyard. Our new old home provides beautiful spaces for our large
extended family and friends to share.’

Smith Modern Coastal Dream Home, Torquay

Why Kathryn Smith of Torquay VIC Loves Her Reno

‘We wanted to achieve a fresh, modern look that was sympathetic to the coastal landscape. The
renovation of our 1980’s home needed to accommodate for more modern conveniences and included a total exterior transformation, double glazed windows, extra storage, WFH space, master retreat, modern cooks kitchen and an outdoor living area that integrated our home to our backyard. Our new home is perfectly configured and the use lighting, including skylights, colours and textures, showcase the features and maintains the bones of the original house that we loved. We obviously had a huge wishlist and we met with Mark, Stewart from Smith & Sons Geelong many times to discuss what we could achieve given our budget. His professional advice and guidance was invaluable and he was so honest in what we could achieve in bringing the existing home and new together.

The attention to detail and building exactly what we wanted was unmatched. The renovation project ran so smoothly and the finished result has exceeded our expectations – it looks like a newly built home. We love living in our new home. Thank you doesn’t seem enough. Well done and thanks so much Mark for giving us a home that we are in love with again.’

Temporary kitchen with bucket as sink and bbq outside, food in suitcases, not fun! The timber floors needed gaps filled throughout, ledge and brace doors bought back to natural, removal of old paint, then paint, paint and more paint! It looks like it’s been here forever. Perfect Imperfect House

Why Lily & Aaron Hill Love Their Reno

‘Our renovation follows a 20 year dream of transforming our inner city original old and dark single storey shop into a perfectly finished family home, aptly named ‘Perfect Imperfect House’. It’s a story of the clash between a our desire for perfectionism and the imperfect and cumbersome process of building a home. We love our home’s central courtyard and large full height glazing that feeds loads of natural light into all our living spaces whilst maintaining a visual and functional connection to the outdoor spaces. Combining the chosen raw and natural materials of marble, Blackbutt, recycled brick, blackened steel and polished concrete lends to the space feeling sophisticated and urban yet still casual. We are especially proud of incorporating a low maintenance exterior cladding of charred cypress battens, hand torched by my husband in the Japanese technique of Shou Sugi Ban.’

‘I love my reno since I used to live with my sister for 5 years right after migrating to Australia. I am single with single income and I didnt have much money but i wanted to move out so decided to buy an ugly house and renovate it on a very tight budget. I love how my white washed brick wall turned out so good and bright. I have my sweet equity on it. Everyone who comes to my house thinks my feature wall is a wall paper. But that’s a great compliment for me as people touch it to believe it is real brick. The TV area reno only cost me <$1000 including wall, sanded timber floor and shutter.’

The Park Side House

Why Marcos Sukeda Loves His Reno

‘I love my RENO because it was done with ‘passion’ and all materials were selected to be durable, innovative and low maintenance. The design of the house captures its surrounds perfectly (parkland) and the layout and features complements its Scandinavian/Modern with a touch of industrial design. It’s a unique design home in a unique location. Enjoy the views of the Cruickshank park from the balconies (North and South facing) while tasting your coffee in the morning or drinking in the afternoon. The Sun in magnesium water base pool. The concrete polished hydronic heating in Winter and the 14m + plus kitchen/ walk-in pantry. Not forgetting the suspended wood replace over a 6m high ceiling through the void. These feature and many others makes this a perfect home, bringing style and quality lifestyle. You must see to believe it!!!

The goal was to use the land (12m wide by 36m long) as effectively as possible but most important merging the surroundings to the building gracefully.’

Mermaid Cottage

Why Mark & Erin Hill Love Their Reno

‘We purchased this property from the original owner in its original condition, to live there was easier said than done as we are a 6 person family and it was a 3 bed 1 bath house… lol. We lived there for about 1.5 years whilst we created plans for the renovation which worked out really well as we were able to determine where the sun was throughout the year as well as plan all the minor details of the reno for that seamless high end finish. From the depth of the pool ledge for the ledge loungers to the waterslide been pre-plumbed into the pool shell to the alfresco shutters bottom track been sunken into the rear stairs to prevent water dripping into the alfresco area when it rained to the Bose Garden speakers in the pool area been wired to Sonos amps inside the house to be integrated with the rest of the Sonos throughout the entire house to using 3 phase electrical for the oversized ducted a/c controlled by the airtouch4 system. We tried to think of everything. Our brief was high end products for a coastal theme with a funky vibe, ABI tapware, Concrete Nation sinks, Blum soft close throughout, handmade Spanish
tiles, Velux Skylights, Sydney reclaimed bricks, Miele appliances, Pacifc crows ash decking custom made front doors and garage door meant the finished product was exactly what we pictured in our head and you will see by the photos was nothing shorty of amazing.’

Smooth with expressed joints on walls & feature barge & on internal feature walls Weathergrove
Smooth 150mm.

Our builder & myself could not be happier with our choice of products & list the following reasons why 1. Much easier to cut 2. Lighter to handle 3. All products are prime coated 4. Wide range of products 5. Quicker to install 6. Extremely cost effective.

Thanks Weathertex from making such fantastic products, it’s made our build so much easier, everyone who has seen the finished build can’t believe how good it looks & all want to know what are those incredible cladding products you used, it really helps sell your product.’

A bit of provincial mixed with contemporary. It’s a light and airy space, open floor plan, high end Fisher & Paykel appliances, perfect for entertaining. We love our home Reno so much, it is something we worked so hard for together and now we have been able to have parties and gatherings, making wonderful memories to last a lifetime!’

The Little Acre

Why Meagan and Brett Clarke Love Their Reno

‘Ive always dreamed of owning a house with wide open spaces, greenery outside of every window. Chooks on the free range, a siesta in the midst of chaos and here is where The Little Acre was born. Poolside, fire pit seats and a country escape. A complete renovation flip in the prettiest valley one ever did see. The moment I walked in to this outdated space, I knew we had to make it our forever family home. I said yes as soon as I saw the yard and the flowing creek! We lived through a complete overhaul with 4 little people by our side, now that’s love.’

Eclectic Mid Century Kitchen

Why Meghan O’Rourke Loves Her Reno

‘I love the process of renovating nearly as much as I love the finished result! There is nothing better than the sense of satisfaction you get from working with your own hands & seeing your design slowly coming together ( emphasis on slowly as I designed and built everything myself apart from the benchtop installation over a 12 month period ).

It is a small kitchen in a 1955 mid century modern house. So I wanted to design the kitchen with a nod to the clean lines of modernism, along with building a tubing frame under some cabinets to give the illusion that they are floating. This design feature allows the floor space to flow underneath.’

Mid Century Meets Contemporary in Nambour

Why Michael and Joedee, Nambour QLD Love Their Reno

‘The kitchen was filthy and falling apart, we lived with it through the 2019 lock down. If food touched the surface I threw it out. Eleven people lived in this house before us, you could tell. We ripped it out and now have a beautiful kitchen that is clean and green, literally, the overhead cupboards are green. Even tradesmen who come here to quote for other jobs comment on how nice it is.’

Michelle’s Bathroom, Perth

Why Michelle Hodkin Loves Her Reno

‘I am very proud of my bathroom reno! I am a first-time homeowner and a total novice when it comes to renovations. I do know what I like though – modern, marble, and easy to clean! I am very lucky that my dad was able to help me find the different materials that I wanted and were within my budget. He spent hours visiting different warehouses looking for baths, sinks and tiles. I was thrilled with the outcome and am so grateful to my dad and Brendon (the plumber) for transforming my tired old bathroom into a luxurious sanctuary.’

McLang Bathroom Retreat in Tamworth

Why Michelle McIntyre & Chris Lang Love Their Reno

‘I have never in my life had a such a beautiful bathroom. It was such a small sad space, and we still wanted a bathtub for the grand-kids, but we also wanted to add a toilet. It turned out 100% better than we ever thought, and we have so much more room. Instead of the old dull bathroom with its mushroom pink bathtub and sink, my bathroom is now bright and beautiful. I can now relax and unwind in this gorgeous bathtub, it is such a wonderful change.’

‘We started the Reno in June 2020! Covid and financial delays. We did as much as we could ourselves and project managed the rest. No mean feat in our 70s! We tackled the floor one part, concrete the other timber boards and laid Secura flooring. We YouTube’d how to fit a new ceiling using furing channels. We removed a non-structural brick wall and did some heavy lifting at the tip! We had an excellent team of trades and there is not one thing I’d change – our new bathroom is just perfect!’

Why Father & Daughter (Andre Wuensch & Pauline Locker) Love Their Reno

‘We loved the natural light, high ceilings and the 2 outdoor spaces that came with this late 1970’s home. The opportunities were endless so we set about creating the perfect small family home by renovating the bathroom (adding a second sink), laundry, kitchen and all bedrooms. We loved integrating some of the old and adding new. We added a new carport and created 2 garden areas perfect for relaxing, entertaining, and enjoying the afternoon sun downers. My father, the quality cabinet maker and I, the obsessive design freak have added our love and passionate functional design to this project and hope it will be enjoyed by many.’

Why Rachel Webber Loves Her Reno

‘Rawson’s Kingscote in beautiful Kangaroo Island was a quick transformation from dated rental with a great floorplan, to upmarket, luxury holiday accommodation. The project was self-managed & designed, most selections done online, with a fairly modest budget and a very tight time frame – almost everything completed in 6 weeks! You can never underestimate the value of good, reliable trades, they’re absolutely gold! Interior paint is Wattyl Stalactite, exterior is Wattyl Floral White (I found my perfect whites!) and we’re loving the beautiful furniture & furnishings from Oz Design, Nick Scali, Myers, Adairs & Freedom.’

Richard and Theresa’s Brighton Home

Why Richard and Theresa Love Their Reno

‘We wanted a modern and unique extension to our Edwardian home, and fell in love with our architect’s design of intersecting curves. By selecting every finish, fixture, light, and piece of furniture ourselves, we created a warm and inviting home that reflects our personalities. With a background in theatre, we are especially aware of the impact lighting can have on a space. Our windows, including our feature curved glass window, allow natural light to shine through, and my partner took pride in realising a lighting design that creates different moods across the period and modern rooms in the evening.’

Why Rob Aldridge & Hannah Lee Love Their Reno

‘I love our Reno because we were lucky enough to put in a pool and a pergola for our doggies. The pool has been so great for our 7 year old boy. He is in it everyday. It has also been amazing for my pregnant fiancé who is 31 weeks pregnant. Coming home to the pool on these hot days is just what she needs. On the other side of the house we gave our 2 huskies more shade so they could be closer to us. They are under there all the time and it is so great to know they can be close to us in the hot weather or wet weather as safe as they can be.’

The Jackson’s Family Home of 23 Years

Why The Jackson Family Love Their Reno

‘Our bathroom was 23YO and looking tired, with a very limited budget we spent under $1000, giving it just the lift it needed to look modern again, we painted walls and ceiling replaced wall panels for tiles with a mosaic boarder and added a new blind and mirror, black power points and ceiling tastic lights. Throw in a few plants and wow we are happy.

This will no way be the best of any reno but shows people that you can make things look shiny and new with small simple changes on even a tight budget, giving your house a modern look and you feeling accomplished’

‘A modest (small) house, purchased originally in 2007. We loved the location but after having a family realised we needed more space. So we decided to renovate up, keeping the ground floor shell of the original house. The brief was to give us new bedrooms and amenities upstairs and a 2nd living space that would spill out to a winter garden balcony. Finally we added a pool, creating an outdoor extension to our living/kitchen. We adore the contemporary monochromatic palette complimented by the cedar wood details that along with the surrounding trees project dappled light throughout the various seasons.’

‘We bought this house that was built in the 1980s in it’s original condition. Our first renovations were the laundry and bathrooms. What made the most difference in our renovations was when we went over the original cork flooring that was an orange/brown colour and drained all the light. ‘We bought this home a few years ago – my wife said, “Trust me”. It was dark and not very welcoming, and certainly didn’t fit with the beach lifestyle we were aiming for. To me, the home belonged in the mountain wilderness.

After reviewing quite possibly hundreds of shades of white paint (which almost all looked the same), I deferred to my wife’s taste and a short while later, the entire house had a face lift.
The home now feels bright, welcoming, and airy, and fitting for a beachfront location.’
