The owners of the original brick house, Adam and Chloe, were attached to their property and decided against demolishing it. To help them design a family home that celebrates the coastal living, they sought the expertise of Chris Rowlands, an architect and creative director at RADStudio, who happened to be a long-time friend.

The design of the house features extensive Fixed Lite Windows that bring in the surrounding view and highlight the central courtyard cactus. Hinged Doors and Casement Windows also allow the cool sea breezes to enter and promote crossflow ventilation.

Energy Efficient Renovation

One of the highlights of the home is the sunken living space, which has stone flooring that feels earthy underfoot. The space also boasts a 6-meter Fixed Lite Window with a 90° silicon butt join that offers a stunning view of the beachfront. With its whitewashed Tasmanian oak interiors and earthy tones, the house blends perfectly with its surroundings and has a natural glow of its own.
