This now coastal kitchen and refreshing space has been totally transformed from the original 1980s layout and style.
The original floor plan saw the room divided with a cavity brick wall and it was covered in laminate, making this coastal kitchen look and feel dated. Aiming to cultivate a more contemporary vibe, the owners wanted a bright white space without clashing colours so their glassware could be displayed as a standout feature. A kitchen island was also a must have, with plenty of drawer space and a floor plan that made the most of the room.
Achieving this took some careful planning and consideration, with the designer utilising Vivid White throughout. This shade comes without any other colours mixed through, so it’ll work well with any bolder additions. The white also delivered the cohesive and contemporary feel the homeowners wanted, as well as leaving their colourful glassware in the spotlight.
Plenty of drawer space was added and to ensure the kitchen island was included, they opted for a compact option that leaves the space feeling open while creating room for wine bottle storage too. The stunning blue marble-effect splashback introduces some colour, while also giving a nod to the coastal surroundings.
