This beautiful kitchen by Schmidt Kitchens and Interior Solutions is a perfect example of why Scandinavian design is a timeless trend. It’s a minimalist clean design that oozes stunning luxury.
Originally built in the ’90s, the previous kitchen had outdated appliances and a dilapidated look. The clients wanted to completely remove the kitchen and replace it with contemporary clean lines that exude a modern feel.
What’s unique about this kitchen is that it doesn’t follow your typical layout. For example, there is no island bench. This was intentional to open up the kitchen space as the existing family room wasn’t that big. Instead of going for a classic “all white” kitchen, the clients preferred muted tones. A warmer palette was adopted with timber floors and mid-tone cabinetry, opening up the space even more, especially when natural light enters the area.
Despite the room’s constraints, the kitchen is the perfect example of beauty combined with practicality. Strong yet discreet graphic elements have been used on the cabinet doors, shaded in their exclusive SCHMIDT Nano ‘Claystone’ colour and paired with an ultra-matt laminate finish. Meanwhile, several door opening systems have been combined for a practical kitchen that’s easy to use and offers plentiful storage. There’s a lot to love about this redesign because of its immaculate attention to detail.
The sink units are waterproof to protect cabinetry in the event of a plumbing mishap. The larder cabinet consists of pull-out drawers of varying depths. Custom-designed width and height with engineered runners enable the drawers to be fully extended, due to all drawers being fitted with a solid and reliable anti-topple system. And as for the cooking agent, a pull-out lower cabinet has everything you need within arm’s reach when cooking — even a basket that can be moved from the unit to the table at mealtimes.
