Durra Panel is a compressed straw panel made entirely from reclaimed wheat straw. Durra Panel is a rigid building product that combines the desirable properties of low embodied energy, strength, acoustic and thermal insulation together with a high degree of fire resistance. Durra Panel is the natural alternative for lining walls and ceilings.
Durra Panel is Australian made in Bendigo, Victoria using waste straw sourced within 100km of the manufacturing facility. Durra Panel uses a unique dry extrusion manufacturing process which requires no chemicals, water or gas. Using only heat and pressure, a natural element within the straw is released and allows the panel core to self-bind using no glues, resins or binding agents.
In every square metre of Durra Panel 8.5kg of carbon is stored within the panel core. This captured carbon outweighs the manufacturing emissions, making Durra Panel a carbon negative product.
The densely compressed straw core provides excellent acoustic, fire resistant, thermal and durability benefits sustainably provided in the one product, reducing the need for additional synthetic materials. Durra Panel is 99.9% free from VOCs and creates spaces that embody an extraordinary connection to nature within a healthy living and working environment.
