In this episode “Desperately Seeking Sofa,” interior designer Alex Gaston identifies the starting point for his design: the living room sofa. But this is no standard living room. Because the intended space is a loft, it has its own unique challenges; it’s a wide open space with an odd shape, including a niche area along the side wall. Alex makes the best of the situation by altering his design plan and placing the sofa in the niche. But he must first find a sofa that will fit – exactly – with two side tables and upholstery fabric that will form the basis of his design color palette.
