The Royal Treatment

The Royal Treatment

Like the bathrooms found in five-star European hotels, this one was designed with luxury in mind.

It’s evident from the moment you step through the doors of this old Queensland colonial home that this is no ordinary bathroom.

The owners approached All Bathroom Gear to re-design a bathroom worthy of its grand surroundings, and wanted an elegant look to blend with the home’s traditional feel.

Not satisfied with the size of the original bathroom, which didn’t even have space for a toilet, the owners and designer Maureen Van Roden of All Bathroom Gear decided to relocate the bathroom to a more spacious location.

The old kitchen was the space of choice and Maureen set to work transforming the cooking area, which was also fitted with a galvanised iron recess for the stove, into a lavish washroom. The centrepiece of the new bathroom is a gorgeous freestanding Duker Slipper cast-iron bath ideal for complete relaxation.

The large shower with frameless glass is very functional for everyday washing. Maureen has also included plenty of storage space in the design, including the vanity with a charming Gemini Colonial oval basin, a display case with glazed doors, and internal accent lighting in the old stove recess so the owner can showcase perfume bottles and other decorative items, creating a glamorous Parisian-inspired aesthetic.

The original bathroom is now a stylish vanity room complete with a striking china washstand with chrome-plated legs, matching Gemini Colonial toilet suite and a range of other ornate features. The beautifully crafted mirrors and the chandeliers add to the grace and sophistication of this indulgent bathroom, making it the perfect place to relax and unwind after a hard day at work.
