Set within Glebe’s The Pavilions on the Bay luxury complex, this early-2000s apartment, with its enviable waterfront position, had interiors that worked against the light-filled lifestyle the homeowners envisioned.
The original kitchen featured dark jarrah timber ceilings, granite benchtops and an enclosed layout with integrated laundry, creating a space that felt heavy and impractical.
The homeowners approached the experienced team at Nouvelle Kitchens for a much-needed update. They requested a bright, contemporary kitchen with integrated appliances, generous storage, a larger pantry and an open-plan layout designed for both family living and entertaining. Achieving this required removing a wall, installing new tiled flooring, and reworking the entire space to improve flow and functionality. Thankfully, the design team took this in their stride and worked smart to bring the vision to life.
The transformation is both elegant and practical. A calming palette of soft pastel green, crisp-white cabinetry and engineered stone benchtops instantly lightens the interior, while new ceilings further enhance the sense of openness. Handleless cabinetry creates a sleek aesthetic, complemented by a full-size integrated refrigerator, concealed appliance cabinet, slimline appliances and a spacious walk-in pantry that keeps everyday essentials neatly organised.
A striking stainless-steel rangehood, black Miele wall ovens and a frosted glass window splashback introduce contrast while maintaining the kitchen’s clean, seamless design. Batten panelling and contemporary glass lighting add warmth and texture, ensuring the space feels sophisticated yet practical.
The renovation extended beyond the kitchen, with the bathrooms and laundry receiving an equally thoughtful makeover. Warm earthy tones, curved detailing and timber vanities create calming, spa-inspired retreats, while backlit mirrors and under-cabinet lighting add a luxurious ambience. The laundry was cleverly relocated, allowing the washing machine and dryer to be concealed within custom cabinetry, ensuring practical everyday functions don’t compromise the apartment’s refined aesthetic.
This renovation perfectly balances contemporary style with smart design, creating a timeless home that embraces its spectacular harbourside setting while meeting the practical needs of modern living.
