Exquisite lighting ensures this luxury pool can be used both night and day.

Making the most of the wonderful Perth weather, this stunning pool was designed to be used no matter what the season — and no matter what the time of day. In fact, it was designed to really come to life at night, making an evening dip seem like the kind of offer you just can’t refuse.

With a flair for style and a passion to craft the perfect pool, designer Gil Howard of Instyle Concrete Pools worked closely with the homeowners to develop a pool design that would meet their every need and desire. Such close consultation between owners and designer is vital if the outcome is to meet, let alone exceed, expectations.

Initially, the pool was to be located closer to the house, but after careful consideration the decision was made to install it towards the back of the property. In doing so, the owners have the flexibility of being able to contemplate future home extensions or renovations without fear they would encroach on their outside haven.

To further enhance the visual appeal of the design, there’s an impressive three-metre-high limestone water feature that contributes to the sense of tranquility that permeates the entire outdoor living area. Downlighting throws the limestone-tiled wall into stark relief, while a trio of blade waterfalls sends smooth sheets of water cascading into the pool below.

To complement the water feature, both paving and pool coping are of limestone.Generously sized, the pool has a 10-metre-long lap lane and a swim-out area complete with three walk-in steps and an underwater safety ledge, somewhere to lounge about or where the children to learn to swim.

Completing the sumptuous design, timber decking has been installed around the pool and non-deciduous trees planted. As a feature, a spectacular Dragon’s Blood Tree (Dracaena draco) stands in a raised stone-clad planter that references the water feature. Inviting during the day, this pool is truly spectacular at night. The lighting from the pool and the water feature not only highlights these elements, it contributes to the overall ambience of the entertaining area, bathing it in a warm glow that is quite mesmerising.
