A1 Design Studio has delivered a kitchen that embodies bold contemporary living, balancing sculptural form with seamless functionality.
Designed in direct response to a client brief for a moody and modern aesthetic, the renovation is striking in both detail and execution.
At the heart of the design is a dramatic island, crafted from natural Super White stone. Its integrated stone sink ensures a cohesive finish, while unique fluted stone detailing provides texture and depth. The island is more than a functional workspace, serving as the centrepiece for entertainment and social connection within the open-plan home.
The cabinetry, finished in dark-stained timber veneer from Elton Group, anchors the room in rich tonal contrast. Full-height joinery conceals ample storage, maintaining a pared-back aesthetic that allows the kitchen’s architectural gestures to take precedence. This refined approach ensures the space feels luxuriously minimal rather than utilitarian, aligning with the client’s request for a design that reads as a statement piece.
Curves play an essential role in unifying the kitchen with the broader architectural language of the residence. The arched stone splashback introduces a sculptural softness while referencing the home’s spiral staircase, creating a dialogue between spaces. A custom brushed-brass rangehood punctuates the design with a warm metallic counterpoint, complemented by Astra Walker brass tapware that introduces further tactile richness.
Spatially, the layout has been carefully resolved to deliver both visual impact and everyday usability. The integration of concealed storage preserves the sleek profile, while the generous proportions of the island encourage interaction and fluidity. The balance of light and dark, smooth and fluted, stone and brass, creates a layered composition that elevates the kitchen into an architectural statement.
The finished result is a luxurious and contemporary kitchen that exceeds the brief, marrying bold materials and sculptural gestures with an unwavering commitment to livable design.
