A bright and inviting kitchen with a spectacular finish

“When I began the design process, the homeowners expressed the desire for an inviting kitchen with a clean minimal look and pop of colour. I introduced a bright yellow for the pantry doors, cabinet door above the fridge and around the rangehood to create impact.”

“The timber framework of the cabinetry is visible and made from solid Tasmanian oak timber to bring in the warmth of a natural material. When it came to the most-used material in the kitchen — the benchtop — the clients wanted a product that was warm and inviting to touch. Staron® Solid Surfaces in Sanded Dover provided a soft-edge detail. The gentle hue with subtle fleck complemented the joinery colour palette, as well as the newly polished concrete floors. I continued the surface into the integrated sink and drainer board in the matching colour for a minimalist look. The joining properties of Staron® mean there are no open joins, so it provides a one-wipe flow from the benchtop into the sink, with no dirt-trapping crevices. The end result is a unique, warm and inviting kitchen space that the homeowners can cook and entertain in while enjoying the beautiful finishes and atmosphere it provides.”
