“With its north-facing block and view out to the pool, the original kitchen was already in the right spot; it was just tired and uninspired. The space was also cut off from the family and dining room by a central staircase.
The homeowners wanted the spaces to come together, so we introduced an open tread, sleek steel and glass-framed staircase that transformed the space and brought in natural light. The kitchen was then redesigned with an abundance of storage. The joinery to the left houses the homeowners’ much-loved library, and the tall units which conceal the single-door refrigerator, microwave and a small appliance cabinet were placed on the right side of the space. The homeowners requested finishes that were rich, warm and quality-driven. The stone, which is clad to the front of the island unit, was sourced for its natural beauty and lovely veins. When considering the material to be used for the benchtop, thought had to be given to finding a surface solution that is beautiful, bright and easy to live with. Staron® Solid Surfaces in Bright White was chosen for its low-maintenance qualities, smooth nature and ability to assist in light reflection. This innovative kitchen design also incorporates an offset breakfast bar where the kids can congregate and socialise. Staron® has a renewable, stain-resistant surface with no open joins, so it was also carried through to the laundry benchtop. The bench space doubled in this area and we were also able to install a two-way linen cabinet, which is pure design brilliance. Accessories are black and appealing, in contrast to the crisp white benchtops; they also complement the designer lighting. This home now oozes a refined modernism that one aspires for in their home.”
EXPERT TIP: Choose a low-maintenance, high-quality material like Staron Solid Surfaces for your kitchen benchtop.
