In the dawning of a new era in benchtop surfaces, sustainability and longevity take equal billing to that of aesthetics and style.
While Caesarstone has led the field in quartz surfaces for the past 35 years, the brand has now added a completely new surface to meet the creative demands of architects, designers and consumers. The benchtop surface – both indoors and outside – is now seen as the defining decorative element in any space – one that has to look beautiful for a lifetime but also has to be the product of the most exacting standards in terms of sustainable, ethical production.
Caesarstone Porcelain offers a new point of view, one that includes striking colouration, bolder veins and palpable textures in a series of 17 designs in Honed and Ultra Rough finishes. Underpinning the striking designs is a huge leap in technology, functionality and design with a Fortified Frame ensuring the surface is exceptionally resistant to scratches, pressure and rupture while its High Heat structure will withstand extremely high temperatures.
In this first collection – the Light Collection – designs range from a virtual pure white (whitenna) through warm white stone effects to dramatically striated stones (Archetta and Striata), plus a concrete finish (Concrita).
Each slab of Caesarstone Porcelain is produced from natural materials (including clay, feldspar, quartz and natural oxides). The large size slabs – 1600 x 3200mm – again satisfy consumer needs for statement making benchtops as larger, sweeping expanses of joint-free surfaces can be achieved.
And the decorative theme of a residential kitchen can be melded seamlessly with that of the outdoor entertaining area as Caesarstone Porcelain is UV resistant and will retain its original beauty when installed outside.
The second new addition to the Caesarstone surfaces portfolio is the Pebbles collection, seen as the stepping-stone to a sustainable benchtop. The pebble is a precious creation of nature, crafted over many, many years and shaped by the forces of water, wind and sunlight. It is a fitting inspiration for Caesarstone’s new range of quartz sustainable surfaces.
There are four organic designs, each one taken directly from the earthy, natural hues and patina of a single pebble – Riverlet, Wyndigo, Raindream and Agger Grey.
Riverlet™ is a gentle off-white base with soft, honied-amber capillaries that flow across the surface. Its honed finish reflects light and is ideal for low-light areas.
Wyndigo™ features a wash of warm, earthy hues over a soft greige surface. Veining in foaming greys is a feature. Its two-toned mottled patina is in a honed finish
Raindream™ two layers of slate greys are accentuated with soft dark grey strokes. Its surface emulates the look of wet river stone – in a polished finish.
Agger Grey™ is a rich, two-toned base of warm, smoky greys with delicate clay undertones and white veining. Available in a polished finish.
In designing the kitchen shown, for an extended family, Darren Genner, principal designer at Studio Minosa, has applied a modern style to a mid-century home. “The kitchen is designed to accommodate numerous family members cooking together, with the white-on-white walls, cabinetry and benchtops adding a level of sophistication to the space. The soft white of Pebbles Riverletä, in a light-reflective honed finish, is ideal for this otherwise low-light space,” he said.
