Positioned to maximise usable lawn and entertaining space, the 4.5m x 2.5m pool sits slightly elevated, rising approximately 400mm above ground. This subtle lift allows the burnished concrete lid to become a defining feature, adding a refined architectural edge while framing the waterline. A vertical timber-cladding wall wraps behind the pool, tying in to the home’s contemporary facade.
The curved shape is central to the design. More than just an aesthetic choice, it improves spatial flow within the backyard and creates a gentle, organic contrast to the home’s linear elements. Fully tiled internally, the pool has a clean, modern finish, while the magnesium water enhances the experience, offering a softer feel on the skin and allowing the pool to function almost like a luxurious outdoor bath.
Designed for relaxation and connection, the pool features an integrated L-shaped seating zone. Positioned to face the house, the seat encourages conversation between those in the water and those in other areas of the backyard. With water temperatures reaching up to around 37 degrees thanks to a 37 megajoule gas heater, the space becomes a year-round retreat — ideal for unwinding at the end of the day or hosting friends in a more intimate setting.
Functionality is equally considered. An in-floor cleaning system keeps maintenance to a minimum, while a Halo Astral automation system manages the pool’s operations with ease. A single multicoloured light introduces a subtle ambience after dark, enhancing the mood without overwhelming the simplicity of the design.
Working alongside a trusted landscaper, the broader outdoor setting has been carefully composed to feel balanced and generous despite the compact footprint. There’s room for a fire pit zone, open lawn and circulation space, ensuring the pool complements rather than dominates the backyard.
