Celebrated stylist Kelly Hoppen is an interior decorating and design success story
Kelly Hoppen is best known as the interior designer whose calm, elegant aesthetic has permeated our consciousness and achieved an iconic (andmuch imitated) status.
The celebrated British designer, who recently received an MBE for services to design, started her business at the tender age of 16. Now, with a vast amount of experience under her belt, Kelly’s career in interior design continues to go from strength to strength.
Her studio and staff manage various projects around the world, completing international schemes for houses, apartments, yachts, hotels and numerous corporate spaces, as well as the interiors for British Airways’ first-class cabins.
She has also successfully implemented her unique approach across a number of business areas, firmly establishing her name as designer, retailer, author, educator and innovator.
Kelly was awarded an MBE last year — an honour for which she is immensely proud. In 2007, she also received the European Women of Achievement Award for Entrepreneurship (EWAA), joining an impressive list of accomplished women who have also collected the EWAA, such as athlete Paula Radcliffe, yachtswoman Ellen MacArthur, explorer Fiona Thornewill, best-selling author Kate Mosse and broadcaster Angela Rippon.
Kelly was the first designer to receive the Andrew Martin ‘International Designer of the Year’ Award in 1997, and has also received an Elle Decoration Award, a Homes & GardenAward and several others over the years.
In addition, she has released a high-street home furnishing and accessories collection, called KHome, which was created for the living room, bedroom and bathroom. The inspiring range is made with the highestquality materials such as linen and suede for textiles and oak for furniture.
In 2010, Kelly also launched a furniture collection in collaboration with Halo Licensing. This vintage-inspired collection has been hugely successful, gaining distributors worldwide.
Her global recognition has also seen her books translated into numerous foreign languages. She has published six books, including the most recent, Kelly Hoppen IDEAS. This publication gives a clear picture of Kelly’s design approach at every stage — from the conception and the idea, through the planning and decision-making, to implementing the work and achieving the reality — she shares her insider secrets and reveals how to get the most from your living space. Her other books; East Meets West, Table Chic, In Touch, and Close Up are all great examples of her signature style and design philosophy.
