I want to invest in a heated towel rail but how do I attach it to my existing wall tiles without cracking them?

A: Matt Weston from Hydrotherm says: “Most tiles are hard only on the surface; the inside is generally much softer. Therefore, don’t apply too much pressure when pre-drilling the tiles. A Masonry drill is essential — do not use a hammer drill. It is wise to mark out the fixing points with a pencilled cross (a dot will disappear once drilling starts and cause inaccuracy). Finally, don’t over-tighten the screws as this may pull the tile inwards and crack it. Hydrotherm heated towel rails have adjustable fixing brackets and wall plugs to allow one half of the rail to be mounted on tile and the other on plaster. This is especially useful for uneven wall surfaces.”
