The owners of this majestic residence turned to Sovereign Interiors to infuse life and style into their new abode. With unique Italian designs, exceptional quality and a large selection of Italian and American suppliers in-hand, Sovereign Interiors began work on this waterfront masterpiece.
Allegra is a grand 1000sqm residence that came with an inspiring brief which Sovereign Interiors thrived on. The clients had worked with the Sovereign Interiors team previously and were well accustomed to their strengths and skills. The brief was clear: the space was to include furniture that remained true to the architecture and style of the structure. “The home is essentially modern, but there are classic elements that make it truly unique,” says Wayne Scrooby, managing director of Sovereign Interiors. “This meant the furniture had to reflect a classic and modern style, as well as create a warm and inviting home for the family.” The design features four large bedrooms with ensuites, a study, a formal lounge with marble fireplace and a formal dining area.
This space flows out to an indoor/outdoor family lounge and dining area, and upstairs lounge dwelling. For the entertainer there’s a TV room, nightclub, and basement garage that can house up to 15 cars. Almost every room boasts beautiful water views with an extensive waterfront measuring 50 metres fronting two sides of the home. From the outset, Wayne knew the home required three of their major suppliers to complement the style and elegance of the design. Malerba was chosen for the formal dining area and occasional pieces for the adjacent indoor/outdoor living area. “It was a unanimous decision that the One and Only collection from Malerba was perfect for this area,” reflects Wayne. This collection’s unique Canela Noire timber with polished chrome accents and polyester flawless finish marries the kitchen’s two-pack colour and stainless accents. The fabric of the One and Only dining chairs was selected to complement the warm limestone floors, making the area more inviting. The indoor/outdoor area, with its stainless-steel barbecue, provides incredible views of the magnificent waterfront. You can feel the warmth strategically infused through the veneers in the formal lounge.
The lighter-coloured timber floors are contrasted with the rich, vibrant makassar ebony veneer in the furniture. The design team and the owners selected these items at the entrance of the home from the Luna Collection, which was designed and manufactured by Giorgio. The design of the Luna Collection is best described as Art Deco with a modern twist. The sectional lounge combines both the luxurious makassar ebony veneer with the highest-grade leather. The caramel colour of the leather creates warmth and ties in with the marble fireplace. The round coffee table with brushed chrome accents, along with the floor lamp and occasional chairs, were also chosen from the Luna Collection. The acrylic sculpture and pedestal are statement pieces that complement the caramel tones present in the room.
The owner loved the Luna Collection so much it features throughout the home. You’ll spy it being used in a bedroom furnished with the Luna headboard upholstered in crocodile leather, and in the sitting room fitted out with two Luna couches upholstered in luxurious suede. The second main bedroom showcases the most recent collection from Giorgio — the Vogue Collection. The elegant sleigh bed is made from European curly eucalyptus and is upholstered in grey velvet, contributing to the home’s prestigious nature. The lights that illuminate the sides of the bed create a warm glow and wonderful ambience at night. The study is furnished in the same style as the formal lounge due to its proximity. The twometre- wide bookcase provides the backdrop to the makassar ebony desk, finished in high-gloss polyester with velvet-lined drawers. This desk was selected not just for its beauty, but also its functionality. The comfortable presidential chair has an adjustable height seat and back and was upholstered in the highest-grade Italian leather. A mutual appreciation for high-quality furnishings and European flair made this project a success.
The clients went on to name the home “Allegra”, meaning “joy and cheerfulness”, which no doubt attributes to the warmth and style created by Sovereign Interiors.
