A majestic home works with the natural aspects of the land to bring the residents down to earth.
The façade of this home is amazing to behold. A natural rock feature garden borders the driveway and path leading to the front door where you enter the home. It is this feature that both encompasses the beautiful, natural surroundings and delivers an innovative ambience full of light, wide-open rooms. This spectacular home was built with finesse by Starr Constructions and, although you wouldn’t think to look at it, the block of land was initially difficult to work with. Uneven ground, a slope in the land and rocky ground that required excavation posed considerable challenges that were overcome by clever design. In the end, the design ensured that minimal excavation was necessary and the natural shape of the land was considered and maintained while the house formed around it.
Inside the grand proportions of this modern home, the slope of the land was used to the best advantage and incorporated into the structure of the interior. Varying roof levels and indented niches in the walls in which statues or paintings have been placed are just some of the unique aspects. Inspiration for the colours used in the architecture and its interior came from the surrounding beach, bush and rocks. The white exterior with aqua windows was the initial starting point. On the inside, every room permeates white and timber as the basis for the warm, coloured highlights such as aqua in the kitchen and bathrooms, a yellow feature wall in the foyer, and an orange lounge suite in the bar area. This room itself is exquisite, with multi-hued timber panelling forming a styled bar, perfect for entertaining friends. A large fireplace becomes a prominent element in the home and was placed to divide the lounge and dining room spaces. The colours used here, teamed with the white walls and infused with the radiating warmth of the fireplace in winter, cause the home to become dreamy and cosy. Moving into the kitchen, where the owners spend a lot of time, charcoal polyurethane cabinetry, an Ice Snow CaesarStone benchtop and aqua glass splashback combine for a polished and forthcoming ambience. Reflective of the stunning ocean view, the entire space is full of light. Personalisation of the home came easily with the nature-inspired design and each of the three bedrooms and the guestroom had certain requirements based on each family member’s preferences.
At the rear of this multi-level home, two separate balconies allow you to take in the stunning ocean views. The use of a stainlesssteel and glass balustrade, while obviously stylish, means there is no obstruction of the panorama, even while seated. Out here, Murano caramel rockface porcelain tiles continue the natural mood of the interior. Every element and feature of this home infuses a sense of comforting warmth that is needed in a family home. The design and structure serve both a functional and visual aesthetic purpose, and have allowed the home to form around the natural shaping of the land. Starr Constructions has easily overcome initial hurdles to build a masterpiece home that appears both simple and complex, both natural and man-made.
