Dubbed “The Entertainer”, this masterfully designed and constructed home by Englehart Homes certainly lives up to its name. Positioned close to the CBD, this dwelling in Victoria’s Kew East is a modern masterpiece. Fully furnished, professionally decorated and landscaped, it’s perfect for the family which loves to entertain. As soon as you enter this home, it charms you. On the left, a formal living area can be found next to the study, where a dark colour palette was chosen for the carpet, furniture and shutters, setting it apart from the rest of the house. A view of the alfresco area outside can also be enjoyed from this room.

On this same side of the home, the master bedroom carries this same theme, with dark furnishings chosen for the interior. As you move further into the house, a lighter colour palette gives the illusion of open spaces. Subtly used splashes of colour can be found in the central living room/ kitchen/dining area in the sofas, chairs and rugs. Large, dark grey tiles line the floor in this open living space, seamlessly harmonising the dark and light tones. In the kitchen, Miele stainless-steel appliances and a Liebherr fridge/freezer were chosen, acting as a perfect contrast to the all-white cupboards and benchtops. The large island bench with a built-in sink also doubles as a working dining table. The black bar stools add character to this space, further complementing the black and white patterned rug and dark sofa in the nearby living area. This home seamlessly incorporates indoor and outdoor entertaining, with the openplan joint central kitchen and formal living room extending out to the verandah. From the dining area, an uninterrupted view of the outdoor entertaining space can be enjoyed, while in the summer months the owners have the option of opening the sliding doors that divide the two spaces to allow one big area for entertaining guests.

Separated by steps, two platforms make up the alfresco area, providing the ultimate entertaining space. For this area, timber flooring was chosen for its durability, natural appeal and stylish finish. This type of flooring also works to complement the Daniel Robertson classic face brick and dark rendered exterior. One of the levels is undercover so guests are free to enjoy a meal at the dining table all year round, while the other part of this outdoor entertaining area is open, connecting the alfresco dining area with the kitchen. Every corner of this contemporary-style home has been designed and built to function as an entertainer’s retreat — so why would anyone want to leave?
