Real kitchen: Streamlined modern kitchen

This streamlined and laid-back kitchen from DesignLine Kitchens & Bathrooms adds sophistication to a modern home

“The owners, Paul and Merryl, wanted a kitchen that would fit into the decor of their home and act as a centre point. They wanted functionality with a streamlined, striking form.

The main feature is the Capolavoro granite benchtop, which provides a huge amount of bench space. The granite is easily maintained and sympathetic to the home’s existing colour scheme. Stainless steel was used on the main cooktop and appliance cupboard area as a practical and hygienic element.

The mirrored splashback reflects the greenery and garden and gives the kitchen depth. We also used a two-toned colour scheme — Dulux Jarrah and Dulux Self-Destruct for the cupboards to create elegant contrast.

The open-plan galley provides a functional breakfast bar with space for preparation when cooking and entertaining that flows into the living and dining areas.

A dedicated appliance cupboard repeats the mirrored splashback and looks great when left open for entertaining.”
