This comfortable yet practical ensuite bathroom design by Brilliant SA screams luxury
“An ensuite should be a haven from the rest of the world, a place where you can relax and unwind after a long day. And this beautiful ensuite is just that. Created as part of extensive renovations to a Flagstaff Hill home, the ensuite was recognised for design excellence at the HIA 2013 Awards, winning the Renovated Bathroom Project $45,001-$55,000. The previous bathroom was generous but poorly laid out and outdated. Comfort and practicality were high on the owners’ bathroom wish list, as the ensuite needed to be easy to use day in, day out. A bulky disused spa bath made way for an elegant free-standing bath and floor-mounted spout, enveloped in light from the bay window. Vertically laid white gloss wall tiles give the illusion of height and space, while darker horizontal feature tiles in the shower provide contrast and balance.
Generous storage is integrated throughout the design without compromising the minimalist feel. Mirrored shaving cabinets are recessed into the wall above a substantial vanity unit, while a recessed niche caters for shower shelving. The result is a tranquil space for the parents to retreat to and indulge in the “me time” they both deserve. The overall quality of the project has impressed the judges of all of Australia’s peak industry associations. In addition to the HIA Award, the project was also highly commended in the KBDi 2013 Design Awards (Large Bathroom).”
