Warm and inviting interiors!

The owners of this new home in Melbourne wanted each space to take on a French provincial style. With a client brief set, the owners approached the specialist in custom-made cabinetry, Sussex Designer Kitchens, to inspire this classic finish inside and outside the home. The body of work consisted of the kitchen, laundry, wardrobe, bar, theatre room and six bathrooms. The kitchen features a rich granite benchtop and soft-close drawers and doors, with all cabinets lightly finished. All these design elements are in keeping with the French provincial theme that continues throughout the home. Following a seamless integration approach, the stainless-steel appliances such as the fridge, dishwasher and oven were built in to support a clutter-free environment. Domenic from Sussex Designer Kitchens describes his favourite room in the house, the chef ’s corner, as “warm and inviting”. Connected to the master bedroom, the ensuite takes on a hotel-inspired look. It features a luxurious spa bath, oversized shower and porcelain tiles. Timber has been used in the bathroom and wardrobe to create a sense of continuity.

The owners wanted the wardrobe to be easily accessible, with plenty of drawers and hanging space. Not only visually appealing and practical in its form, it’s the contrasting effect of timber doors and glass panels that make this wardrobe a key feature in the master bedroom. The theatre room cabinetry complements the adjoining bar. Following on from the luxurious hotel look of the master bedroom and ensuite, the theatre room takes on a similar feel. Designed specifically for the owners, this room was fitted with a complete home theatre system. Sussex was assigned the task of designing the cabinetry that would surround the television screen, concealing all electronic equipment and cables. For the owners, it was important to bring the outside in and vice versa. The alfresco area features an outdoor kitchen consisting of an island bench, backbench and CaesarStone benchtop. “The owners do a lot of entertaining in their house, so both the inside and outside were designed with this in mind,” says Domenic. Sussex Designer Kitchens has created not only functional areas, but spaces that can now be included in the lifestyle of the client. The end result: an immaculate finish that is enhanced by its French provincial twist.
