The original kitchen was a small ‘80s-style space located in a different section of the home. The clients had always liked the look of a country-style kitchen and came up with some ideas for the elevation of the rear of the space as well as the stove elevation, which we incorporated to create this beautiful family area

The homestead is situated on a rise at the edge of town, which suited the kitchen’s aesthetic perfectly. Once the room was relocated to another area in the home, it was opened up to take advantage of the view through the rear glass windows and outside entertainment area. We worked together to create a space that is both balanced and functional. The main design consideration was the size of the kitchen and how to separate it into zones so that the space would be practical and easy to move around in. The island bench is the statement piece, sitting in front of the grand rear elevation of the chimney breast. Carefully chosen turned posts, stop flute capping, pencil bead pilasters, corbels and glass display cabinets were integrated into the bench. An important factor for the homeowners was being able to enjoy the view of the undulating countryside from the rear of the home.”
