Maximising its waterside location, this Gold Coast home is breathtaking
One of the main attractions of a kit home is the ability to be an owner-builder, saving you money and giving you the satisfaction of being able to stand back at the end and say with pride “I built that”. For the fledgling owner-builder, it can all seem a bit daunting to begin with, but with the guidance and support of a highly experienced company such as Imagine Kit Homes, the result can be everything you dreamed of, and more.
As so many people do today, the owner of this waterfront property searched the web looking for a kit home company that offered a diverse range of designs, the ability to customise those designs, a rock-solid reputation, and excellent customer support. Imagine Kit Homes ticked all the boxes for him so he made the call.
“The client, a first-time owner-builder, came to us to design, certify and engineer the home,” says Keith Richardson, Imagine Kit Homes’ General Manager. “Not only was it important that the home maximise its waterside location, which included views of the Gold Coast-city skyline and a network of canals, we had to design the home to take into account revised council flood levels.
“As an owner-builder, the client was on-site every day and was able to make use of our project management software, which guides you through the construction process.”
Located in Mermaid Waters, a sought-after community of lakes and canals dotted with luxury residences, this spacious two-storey, four-bedroom Hamptons-style abode is right at home. Customised by Imagine Kit Homes to suit the client’s individual taste and lifestyle needs, the home has 3m-high ceilings and 2700mm-high bifold doors along its waterfront side, maximising the views and ensuring the airy interior always feels light and bright.
The exterior is of classic yet contemporary Hamptons style. This is effectively expressed in the colour palette chosen for the facade and the use of Sycon Linea weatherboards.
The tastefully decorated interior also offers a modern take on traditional Hamptons design while featuring classic elements such as window shutters, pendant lighting, and a staircase with timber treads and balustrade.
“This project proves that kit homes can be of any size, style or budget,” says Keith. “They can be grand or modest, built by the water or in the country. We simply customise the plans to suit the client and the location.”
