This beautifully designed cabana and pool is the perfect place to relax after a game of tennis.
A Total Concept Landscape Architects was commissioned to design the extensive outdoor entertainment complex of this Brisbane acreage property integrating a cabana, swimming pool and tennis court for relaxing and socialising.
The location of the tennis court was set on level areas of the property running east west, which suggested the location of the cabana and swimming pool. Positioning the pool to take advantage of level changes from the court to the home enabled A Total Concept Landscape Architects to utilise the outside of the pool weir as the pool safety fence and provide a visual feature from the home.
The poolside cabana is located adjacent to the tennis court to service the tennis players in the family and is surrounded by a large paved entertaining space. It’s equipped with a woodfired pizza oven and barbecue for entertaining purposes. The cabana is set within lawn areas dotted with existing tall gum trees and incorporates a large formal swimming pool, all designed by A Total Concept.
The style of the poolside cabana ensures the overall project is in keeping with the home. The roof has been designed with a hip that visually links to the existing roof of the residence and allows for very high ceilings and air/skylights that are ideal for airflow, and also visually increase the size of the cabana. The residence’s brickwork has been matched in the cabana and external barbecue to further forge a link between the two structures.
The cabana includes a large wall-mounted LCD television, intricate built-in cabinetry, glass splashbacks, Caesarstone benchtop, under-mounted sink, stainless-steel fridge, dishwasher and bar, and a fully furnished bathroom facility. Beneath the cabana is a fully equipped gym with running and rowing machines, free weights and benches, as well as a second shower.
At night the cabana is well lit with both concealed strip lighting and LED downlights in the ceiling. Together with the tennis court lights, lights in the swimming pool, and energy-efficient LED lighting throughout the paving, lawn and garden areas, it creates mood effects with washes of light and dancing shadows.
A quality internal, external and in-pool sound system, together with all electrical components such as lights, irrigation, plus swimming pool heater and swim jets, are linked to the cabana’s and residence’s electrical switching system.
The understated glass tiles used in the geometrically-shaped swimming pool contrast beautifully with the cross-cut half-filled caramel travertine paving of the external entertaining areas and cabana floor. These, in turn, have been designed to blend with the shaded greens of the gardens and lawns.
Plants including the Dracaena draco (dragon tree) and Agave attenuata (agave) have been kept to a minimum to allow the existing large gum trees to take centre stage and be showcased in the acreage property.
The end result of this project designed by A Total Concept and built by Beau Homes And Swimming Pools is a beautifully integrated lifestyle and entertaining complex for the owners. The visual simplicity of design and subtle use of quality materials unify the project and integrate the components expertly into the surrounding landscaped gardens.
