A cleverly customised design makes the most of every square metre while creating a beautiful outdoor retreat
Designed to complement the existing home rather than compete with it, this elegant custom concrete pool by Jade Swimming Pools demonstrates how thoughtful planning can unlock the full potential of a suburban backyard. Every line, angle and material has been carefully considered, resulting in a contemporary outdoor space that is equally suited to lively family gatherings and quiet afternoons by the water.
The homeowners wanted to make the most of their outdoor area while creating a place where they could unwind after busy workdays and spend quality time with family. Designing the pool themselves, they worked with the experienced team at Jade Swimming Pools to bring their vision to life.
Rather than imposing a standard rectangular design, the custom-shaped pool responds directly to the home’s layout, fitting naturally within the available space while enhancing the flow between indoor and outdoor living. Measuring approximately 6m x 5m with depths ranging from 1.2m to 1.8m, it offers generous room for recreation while maintaining an intimate atmosphere for entertaining.
Travertine paving and coping create a timeless finish, while the Jewels4Pools custom-blend interior produces brilliant blue water that contrasts beautifully with the surrounding stonework. Frameless glass fencing preserves uninterrupted views across the entertaining area, reinforcing the sense of openness throughout the backyard.
A striking corner water feature provides the visual centrepiece of the design. Clad in natural stone and featuring a 1200mm waterfall powered by a dedicated pump, it introduces the soothing sound of flowing water while adding movement and texture to the landscape.
At night, four EVOMax multi-coloured LED lights, including one beneath the waterfall, transform the space into a dramatic outdoor retreat.Performance has been given equal consideration. The pool is equipped with a Theralux Mineral Pool System, Theralux SMC 35 Mineral Chlorinator with pH control, an Oasis iX24 24kW heat pump and a Dolphin M700 robotic cleaner, delivering sparkling water, efficient operation and easy maintenance throughout the year.
The result is a backyard that feels significantly larger than its footprint suggests. Every element has been carefully integrated to create a seamless balance between architecture, landscaping and water, proving that great pool design isn’t simply about adding a swimming pool — it’s about creating an outdoor lifestyle tailored to the way a family lives.
