Bondor has teamed up with Victorian micro-living specialists Build It Yourself and architect Fraser Paxton to create a cubby-house that took out the Lord Mayor’s “Most Melbourne Award”. The cubby was later auctioned, along with six others, at the Melbourne International Flower and Garden Show and raised $8,000 for the Kids Under Cover Cubby House Challenge and all together almost $50,000 was raised for the initiative.
The stylish cubby contains cool insulated walls and roof, and a colour scheme that is perfect for any child; all of which includes plenty of room for them to play! It also features unique magnetic steel lining walls that encourages children to put their interior decorating skills to the ultimate test with magnetic backed artwork and ornaments.
In light of this amazing creation and amount of money raised, all funds will go towards placing freestanding, reusable studios in the backyards of families in need as well as an attempt to relieve the pressure of overcrowded households. Kids Under Cover supports young people between the ages of 12 and 25 who are homeless as well as raising awareness of the thousands of youth that are homeless each and every year.
