A striking statement of modern elegance, this custom-built pool by Norfolk Pools is the centrepiece of Zarma, a breathtaking Broadbeach residence. Inspired by the luxurious aesthetic of The Calile Hotel in Brisbane, this geometric pool seamlessly integrates with the home’s sophisticated open-plan design, offering a serene oasis within the vibrant Gold Coast lifestyle.

Designed by Barlow Building and brought to life by Norfolk Pools, this 9m x 6m swimming pool exudes contemporary refinement. The homeowners—a dynamic young couple carving a name for themselves in the luxury building industry—sought a pool that would not only serve as a stunning visual feature but also function as a space for both relaxation and entertaining. The result is a modern retreat that perfectly balances aesthetics, functionality, and the surrounding coastal environment.

A pool with a difference

Set on a sloping canal-front block, the project presented unique engineering challenges, including the need for extensive retaining work and new revetment walls. The Norfolk Pools team worked meticulously to ensure the pool harmonised with the site’s elevation, allowing for seamless indoor-outdoor integration.

One of the standout features of this design is the distinctive circular bench, which serves as both a sculptural and functional element within the pool. Countless discussions went into perfecting the tiling work to highlight this feature, with the team choosing to edge the bench and roll the tiles over and down the wall—creating a breathtaking visual effect.

Premium finishes and design innovation

Norfolk Pools used only the finest materials to bring this stunning pool to life. The interior boasts a custom mix of green glass bead in Green Oxide, creating a mesmersing water hue that glistens under the Queensland sun. Sukabumi tiles from The Pool Tile Company enhance the natural, resort-like ambiance, while honed concrete coping adds a sleek and sophisticated finish. The pool’s lighting, provided by Spa Electrics Multi-Plus, ensures a radiant glow both day and night, making the water a focal point of the home’s outdoor space.

Its geometric shape and sharp, clean lines exude contemporary sophistication, while the strategic zoning allows for wading, lounging, and diving. The pool effortlessly connects to the home’s lounge and indoor-outdoor dining areas, offering uninterrupted flow between relaxation and entertainment spaces—ideal for the homeowners’ vibrant lifestyle.
