A steep and irregular-shaped backyard proved no barrier for Momentum Pools, which designed and built this stunning contemporary pool in Melbourne’s seaside town of Mount Martha. The 8m x 3.5m pool was integrated into the steeply sloping site, replacing the existing 1980s kidney-shaped pool with a raised spa and planter box walls forming a retainer.

Reflecting the owner’s wishes, Momentum Pools designed a “showpiece” pool that not only utilises the space in a functional way, but also provides a centrepiece when viewed from the adjoining living area. The raised spa with acrylic window is a standout feature that gives this poolscape a glamorous and contemporary feel, with luxurious Bisazza glass mosaic tiles used in the interior of the spa along with a granite surround.

The acrylic viewing panel was retro-fitted once the pool was built, following a last-minute decision from the owner, who is a builder with a long history in the construction industry. Three copper spouts on a suspended copper panel form a stunning water feature in the pool, once again accentuating this show-stopping design.

Momentum Pools is also responsible for the fully frameless fencing, supplied through Fethers Frameless Glazing Systems. The pool is fitted with Zodiac LED niche lights, a Paramount in-floor cleaning system and solar heating for year-round comfort and maintenance.

The company designs and builds around 25 pools a year in Melbourne, and also works on projects on commercial building sites. As part of its comprehensive consultation service, Momentum Pools prepares detailed concept drawings with 3D renders and 2D plans at no extra cost to the client. The company also provides fixed-price quotes — where the contract price is the final price of the job — as well as a guaranteed eight-week construction deadline with substantial late fees built into its contracts.
