When the owners asked for their new kitchen space to become the visual and practical focal point of their home, they did not foresee the positive impact this request would have on their lifestyle.
After living within a restricted and divided kitchen and dining area for more than two decades, the clients decided it was time to update, so they enlisted the brilliant help of designer Angelo Ralph from the team at Fresh Kitchen Solutions.
As walls came down, three rooms and a hallway became one large, blank canvas on which a gorgeous provincial-style kitchen has now become the new heart of the home.
The clients’ brief set the agenda, with the wish for an attractive, ornate and decorative space capable of entertaining guests and easily managing day-to-day living. The designer followed the clients’ wishes so accurately and created such a functional kitchen that the owners now hardly ever use their formal lounge and dining areas, instead preferring to spend their home time in the new space. The entire area was transformed by the addition of such features as overhead cabinetry with clear glass shelving and internal downlights, granite benchtops with lamb’s tongue edging and arched ends, as well as new flooring and ceiling work.
To attain the desired provincial style, French doors lead to the space from the hallway and laundry and aesthetic continuity is provided by antique Cornall pewter and ivory swing-handles and t-knobs, and the traditional built-in Tesrol rangehood.
The challenge was to incorporate modern appliances into the mix without tarnishing the kitchen’s classic image. This was accomplished by using delicate and subtle features throughout such as Tesrol corbels and fluted columns for the fridge cabinet and island bench.
The overall impression offered by this Fresh Kitchen Solutions room is beautiful and a result of clever layering of traditional elements and contemporary conveniences in achieving a light and airy mood owners and guests simply cannot resist.
