New York bathroom design – chic and simple

Gallery

The simplicity and contemporary nature of this New York themed house located in Australia is eye-catching and spacious – but as the designer notes, was no easy feat to create

“This bathroom was one of the most interesting design challenges as the client lived in Manhattan, New York, and all the initial consultation and design work was completed via the internet. The owners were planning to move back to Australia but wanted to bring a sense of their New York lifestyle home with them.

The plan was to design the bathroom as a fusion of Manhattan and Australian style that would exemplify a modern, contemporary feel. We decided on a neutral colour scheme and added visual emphasis with items such as the featured textured mosaic tiles.

The space is uncluttered, tranquil and inviting with a free-standing oval bath the centrepiece of the room. A generous, custom-built vanity provides ample storage while the large mirror above accentuates the expansive, open feel of the bathroom.”

Bathroom design idea: Feature walls

Bathrooms are no longer simply rooms of function - instead they are designated spheres of relaxation and cleansing. The design of these rooms has therefore grown in importance too. An option in bathroom designs is to include a stand out wall - something eye-grabbing and exciting.
