Something old is made new again in this contemporary kitchen renovation and design

“Successful kitchen refurbishments call for creative design solutions that resolve the shortcomings of the old kitchen and breathe new life into the home.

The owner had lived in this home since it was built 18 years ago and wanted a contemporary design to replace the dated timber kitchen. So we decided to open up the space and introduce an island bench. However the greatest challenge was to work within the existing structure — the house was built on a concrete slab, which meant that the plumbing and electrical conduits to the island bench had to be chased into the floor. The kitchen is now a large and functional area with an abundance of storage. We employed a clean-lined aesthetic and bright finishes to blend with the existing features of the house, as well as adding a burst of colour to the glass splashbackand new stainless-steel appliances and fittings.”
